If that's hip hop then those beats are WACK.

Puts me in a mind, though, where if Gargamel or some other crew of tight sculptors decided to do a true '50s Peanuts line in sofubi I'd be knocking over barrels and punching innocent mothers to get at them!

Medicom did 2 really awesome Snoopy toys recently using the earlier versions of him. I get what you're saying though, I'd love to see someone's take on peanuts(or other iconic characters) much like gargamel did with Mario.

I dont dig pushead, sorry. While I can see how his touch really works wonders, I just am bored to tears of anything that has to do with skulls.

the man is a genius when it comes to textures, though.

Ok, you hate KAWS, good for you.

I thought the Astro Boy was fun, and I would've liked to get the snoopy great pumpkin cookie jar just because it was funny.
This however is boring and overpriced. I would've had different thoughts if there were minis in a set of different figures to be in scale more to other KAWS toys. That I would've bought.

I dont hate it, I just fail to see what drives others to buy it. I like the huge companion that has been touring. Its neat.

you even say it, Boring and overpriced. thats all.

Licenses need to be better used, I think even a hardcore fan of the brand can agree that they have not been doing proper justice to the IPs they got.

Yeah, the Mario toys were exactly what I was thinking of. I didn't know about the recent Medicom releases, thanks for bringing them to my attention. I've got the usual nerd for a thing wish to see a whole run of less recognized characters, but the two sizes of Snoops sitting are really great, and this one blows my mind:

Now that's a good use of a license!

And if you want meta in your depictions of cartoon characters, Mr. KAWS, then look no further than one of Schultz's own strips from the very next year:

I think the Pinocchio was alright, afterwards he released a number of weak figures. I was partial to the resting place but specifically to astroboy. Would have picked it up if they didn't fuck up the times. Other than that Pushead's companion goes without saying.

Medicom for the most part, does an excellent job of interpreting licensed characters true to their original designs and or choosing really great aspects of them featured in the context of their cartoon or printed material that most other licensors would never think of. Medicom seems to me, ARE fans thus understand that real fans would appreciate their takes on characters. The Halloween Snoopy is an excellent example of these unique choices as is the "Runaway Brain" Mickey.

I still enjoy the Kaws companions and the Be@rbrick versions but all these "X" eyes and crossbone ears being slapped on figures has gotten pretty stale.

People need to keep in mind that the holders of the licenses probably don't want something too radical with these collaborations. I don't think the Schulz family wanted to alter the characters too much. With that said, I think they look like crap.

wondering whether he lost interest in doing toys.
kaws did great figures - way ahead of times - but obviously
not much creativtity nor effort goes into his latest figures.

...love monotone be@rbrick´s.

Yeah maybe it's a matter of balance for him. The licensed stuff must makes him a good buck with Medicom
and from a business perspective, maybe the simplicity of Kaws placed on the characters has been doing really well for them. Some harder core folks may or may not appreciate it but there's obviously an audience out there buying these iterations thus he continues to collaborate with Medicom while able to work on whatever else he wants to.

Yeah, selling off my two 1000% og monotone Kaws Be@rbricks still kills me! ; )

The Astroboy release on Kawsone was actually extremely smooth, and right on time. But yeah, the Resting Place release was a disaster.
