Right now @vintagevinyl is thinking "my Marusan original figures might be worth more than my house". It's crazy to watch these climb higher and higher. For years, I don't think there was any toy that was consider lower on the totem pole than the Marusan originals. Good eyes Jim.

Yeah I was watching that. Super nuts. I didn't know they came carded either. I thought I read somewhere that they were chocolate candy prizes or something, but that might have been another toy

Kind of sad to see it go so high. He was pretty beat, and I know Rokurons have sold for considerably less in the past in much better condition. The Jumbo market is out of control at the moment.

I tried my best to get that Godzilla hand puppet, but it was not meant to be. The next one will be mine (whenever that is!).

Yeah, I'd honestly love to see a hi-res scan of the backing and header cards...probably even more so than the toys!

Not rare but really sought after. Giant Chameleon reared it's beautiful head again. Two auctions ending a day apart. Saw the first jump from 9000 yen to end at 36600 yen within a few hours:

http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u45300587

So I told myself not bother on this one:

http://page21.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/a ... j220375773

Which was incredibly stupid because it ended relatively cheap at 15500 yen! DOH!!!!!

I think the difference in price for the Giant Chameleon is the condition. The first one (which I bought) is in better shape. There is a lot less wear and the paint app seems to be more evenly applied. I have been after this guy for 6 years. I just got back from Japan and saw 2 there. One for 60000¥ and another for 80000¥, both in worse condition. I first saw it there on the toy tour with Brian and regretted not buying it then for 22500¥. Now I'm only down to two left with the jumbo villans. Unless I want to pay 160000¥ for the cobraman that has been up for months.

The seller of the auction which ended for less also made an error in his description. He stated the height as 24.5 cm when it was clearly a giant size. This might have put some peopel off.

Post Re: strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre o
Nahhh condition had nothing to really do with that second auction going cheaper. Most people didn't notice it because of the way it was listed. Phantom Rider and not in the vintage category at all. Translated this is what it said:

Rare! Other Phantom Rider chameleon / Figures / Death /

That and what Mark said about the size being listed wrong. The condition is about the same on both, not that much of a difference. I mean despite what people think, these come up often enough that there is no need to blow a huge wad on it. I mean two weeks ago someone I know got one for 20000 yen on YJA, and a few months back I recall a Giant Chameleon going for around $325. They can be had with some patience. Only reason I didn't bid on the second one was because I saw so many bids for the first I figured all the runner ups would rush over to that auction. Won't make that mistake again.

I'll stick with condition. It makes me feel better having spent double the amount...

That was originally listed at 16000 and ended with no bids. The seller tacked on another zero and relisted it again and again.
