Post Become A ShelfLife Curator (Fun! Fan! Fellowship!)
Hey all,

Our bunch of psychos have been busy all year pulling together the ShelfLife project over at ShelfLife.net.

In short, we're trying to document every collectible ever made, like, um, ever. If you are familiar with the good deeds of the boys at Trampt.com and Rotocasted, then picture an even more ambitious and more powerful collection management platform full of fun and nonsense. We track products down to the parts level, which allows us to do some pretty crazy stuff, like set up multi-dimensional transactions and automatically match buyers and sellers.

We've already got 75,000 items in the system, and though we started on the mainstream action figures stuff, with Skullbrain dear to my heart, we are hyper to get the world of Kaiju, Indie Vinyl and Designer Toys more fully explored on the system.

Specifically if folks wanted to help me fill in some blanks on Super7, Secret Base, RxH, Grody, etc. that would be wonderful.

Here's a sample catalog for Mongo's I've been working on:

If you've got some spare time, fan passion, and possibly some great photos to donate, you can register over here:
http://www.shelflife.net/curator

Curators are basically like Wikipedia editors, BUT, when things are sold via our marketplace within your catalogs you get a cut of the commission. We also coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to dole out $500-$750 in prizes every month to our busiest users, which often turn out to be curators.

More on this over here:

This is ultimately a for-profit project, but we'll be poor for ages, and the userbase is full of die hard fans, so plenty of awesome to be had.

If you have questions, etc, hit me, we're wide open to discussion, debate and rants from Andy.

Much love,

James & Team ShelfLife
