The Japanese equivalent of Hooters, young girls dressed as sexy maids wait on you. Never been in one, I think along with coffee and snacks you can order things like massages. But in Akihabara the girls were all over the streets handing out flyers for their cafes

Maid cafes are the bomb! The best part is when they practically force you to sing with them.

I feel really sorry for those girls. They have to stand outside in skimpy outfits in really cold weather and happily chat with whoever walks up, in the hopes that the person will then go to the place they work at. Sometimes it's a bit creepy.

I've only ever been to one or two maid cafes - some years ago. One was in Osaka. I think they're mostly innocent. The girls are dressed like cartoonish maids or other characters, but it isn't risquee, and not nearly as revealing or skimpy as the Hooters outfits.

Basically they're waitresses, and you can do stuff like pay extra money to have them write your name (in ketchup) on an omelet. I think they charge to take a photo with you - that sort of thing.

That's about as far as my knowledge goes, but it wouldn't surprise me if the subculture had a lot of other sides to it.

So, this one time, I was at a maid cafe and there was this toy there called a 'Mockbat' (I think) - what a cool toy!!! We should all have a discussion about how cool it is - sometime.

A word of caution - Someone is peddling FAKE Paul Kaiju Biterman resins on ebay.

They're done in odd colors and missing magnets. They are not authentic.

I got two biter babies at SMFU and one had it the other didn't so the missing magnet isn't necessarily a marker for a boot.

The last few batches sold at SMFU, Foe Gallery, Dragatomi, and most of my shows this year didn't have magnets.
If you want magnets, glue in a magnet. It's not that hard.
