Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
Oh and to further justify the punk thing, its not a stretch to assume that someone who obsessively buys the same records on every color, would buy the same toy sculpt in every color. Natural progression.

Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
^ Those two vinyl records pics remind me of Toypunks documentary, when Ramos mentions he knew a kid "who had Sex Pistols records and he had about like 25 of them because every single one was slightly different". By the way, I love when Carl plays air guitar at that segment!

what's all the complaining about? SB is warm, fuzzy and filled with rainbows and unicorns these days.

Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
I started posting in july 2006. The first thread I ever read on SB, was in spring of 2006, was literally about how much the "board sucked now" with the "new people" who didn't "get it". The board will always be the same. There will always be old fuckers talking about how the new shit sucks. Noobs who don't get it. Old "founding" members who will turn out to rip people off. New people who are actually cool. There is only one thing that I really feel has changed. At one point I think they majority of people who read and posted here, were the general pool of those who collected this type of stuff in the US. Now it's not so much the case. There are a lot of people who collect hard and have nothing to do with SB.
PS- Punks. Edgemen, Skinheads. freaks. weirdos. I've met a ton here and I have always felt a kinship aside from the toys we collected.

Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
In my experience, allegedly cranky Skullbrainers have
Helped with job search Given me rides to locations I couldn't reach on my own Tipped me off to "hidden" grails Given me free toys to help with "completist" aspirations Done awesome trades Offered kind words of support during a scary bout with bad health Provided and shared countless good times both in person and online
All the board bitching in the world can't put a damper on those qualities and experiences.

All the board bitching in the world can't put a damper on those qualities and experiences. The truth is a lot of the most dick-ish skullbrainers are really nice in person. Havingmysay/Stinkupuss is a great example of someone who is not quite as bad as he seems on here. I said QUITE. Heyo!

Quite true, I even hear he cries whilst watching Toy Story 3 . . . but just for balance, I feel sure some skullbrainers are probably even bigger dicks in person . . . viewtopic.php?f=9&t=44835

Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
That's a good example of being a dick just for the the sake of it. A lot of people have their (usually good) reasons for being assholes in this forum, then when you meet them and they actually end up being nice people.

Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
People can be very friendly but angered by stupidity, greed, and a bunch of other things. Flippers, self-righteous newbies, people selling toys they "don't collect" and... pokemon? in the BST right now are not making me feel very zen. But that's because I care about this place!

Re: Question For Long Time Skullbrainers
SO SHUT UP, OLI! just kidding... heart you! i'm by no means an old hat around here, but i'll admit it took me a while to get out in the main forums and start interacting with all you crazies. (i think my first 50 or so posts where in the paradise garage forum, and i waited until at least 100 posts before putting up a wants list.) you've just got to learn to take the internet with a bit of salt, is all. i find that people are, in general, pretty stupid (i'm just misanthropic that way)... but there are a higher concentration on non-idiots here than i can say for some places.

And I've never sold, but actually gave, traded and received a bunch of Lego here.

Oh give me a break. If Gargamel made Pokemon vinyls you guys would be clawing each other's eyes out to get them.

Thanks again for the posts and replies. I did'nt think this thread would get close to 100 posts, even if it did wander a bit.
