I'd make Jello Death Star's with them. Or fruit pops, jam a stick in them, planet destroying flavor!

If storm troopers are just rebranded clone troopers how are they men and women of various ages in the anime test? Or are pilots not clones? If not, why not?

According to Star Wars lore, from what I remember (screw looking it up on the internet right this moment) eventually they cloned more people to have a range of different clones and some Stormtroopers are also volunteers in the army. Enough civilians bought the Emperors crap. SO it's a combo of Jango clones, various OTHER clones, and regular saps. Fuck it though, forget the prequels.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
I liked the animation but didn't like when they showed the faces behind the masks. Part of the mystery and coolness about the troopers was the anonymous nature. All the other stuff was pretty cool.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
Way better than Clone Wars IMO. I could be wrong but I see the faces behind mask thing as a tribute to old animation. I could do without too though, but I guess it's part of characters development. It was well done in X-wing: Rogue Squadron comics from DH.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
I think it's fantastic news. The first Star Trek movie I ever watched was the one JJ Abrams directed and my first thought was ..THIS is how Star Wars movies should be. Those characters had flaws and depth and I actually cared about what happened.
I know some die hard Star Trek fans who did not like it but I thought it was fantastic.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
I think he's a very qualified director, but a terrible, terrible writer. His Star Trek just didn't make any sense at all. This said, the new SW will be written by Arndt, and Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3 rocked. Plus, this means we'll have more Lego SW! Woot! I'm excited!

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
Angry fanboy here. [Insert never-ending rant about destruction of our childhood]I am not an Abrams fan at all, and I thought I was in the great minority with disliking ST, so I am glad at least one other person agrees with me. His produced stuff is utter garbage. Disney is definitely just jumping on a hyped new director IMO, and when it comes to box office sales this will work (and that is all that counts, right). But all that said, it really could not be any worse for the SW universe than it is right now, so in that respect, I'll wait and see. At most I am non-plussed. The article on io9 provides some interesting points which could hold promise, but I have been stood up too many times at this point to fall in love again.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
I'm all for Abrams getting a shot at it especially if he's going to redo the prequels. With the new Angry Bird crossover and endless crap like that I just don't think anyone can mess up the franchise anymore. The originals(Han shot first one's) are great everything else has been terrible.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
I'll make this point once again: ANYONE'S BETTER THAN LUCAS! If they're 100% making more, as long as it's not Lucas, I'm in for it.
That said I like Abrams. I'm not a big fanboy of his but enjoy enough of his stuff on a base level (it entertains me, doesn't make me nuts with passion.) I was never a Trek fan and enjoyed his take. I like Cloverfield, Super 8 and even Fringe. I'm not saying any of those are masterpieces but I enjoy them. So I just feel like considering what they're making, they could have easily done worse and couldn't have really done better (maybe equally OK) considering it's Disney and would have only gone with a bigger name/mainstream director.
Now will we have recast younger Luke, Leia, Han and the gang or them older and focused on their kids and lives as the elders of the characters in this universe.

Reports floating around today that Harrison Ford will return as Han Solo in Episode VII. No confirmation from Disney or StarWars.com yet though...

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
There was an interview (I am sure I can probably find it floating around somewhere) that Mark Hamill did in 1984 [I think]. In it, he mentioned that in the sequel trilogy, the original cast would return, but hinted that it would not be in the form we had seem them before (e.g. I imagine in some kind of voice-over aspect of their original characters). This is based on GL's original vision - supposedly. Ever since the revival has become a concrete thing, I have been thinking that they are going to bring this back, partly to get in the old fans and by way of apology for the prequels. I can't say why, but it has stuck in my mind, and I think Disney/Abrams will turn to it, if only for its 'gimmick.' After all, they are going to milk this, we have seen that already.

Ha, cool read. Love to read synopses like this from fellow geeks. Though of course my inner uber-nerd has a few rebuttal points to make. For more Hoth action, there is this 140-square foot diorama. One of the most interesting things to me is the explosions, which apparently folks in the south make out of chickenwire...or something.

 Re: Sick of Star Wars
^ the best part of that breakdown article is the first comment made: JordanViray wrote: Have you even served with the Imperial forces? Sure it's easy to take potshots from your military blog in some no-name star system while the fleet and its legions fight the rebel insurgents, but combined space/air/ground operations are a lot messier than any infographic could ever portray.
Even with the Empire's full spectrum dominance of the battlespace, you can't just leverage fleet assets which are optimized for ship-to-ship combat into a large scale ground invasion force. A Star Destroyer might have more firepower than the entire militaries of less advanced worlds but you still need a proper ground assault ship to support infantry landings.
Unfortunately, the do-nothing blowhards in Coruscant couldn't get funding for the promising alternative designs from Sienar Fleet Systems and we ended up (as usual) with Kuat Drive Yards' overpriced, overdue, and underperforming AT-AT mess.
but it's too bad that the diorama maker is such a d-bag.
