I don't really read Marvel comics anymore but didn't Star Wars' comics used to be published through Marvel back in the 80's??

Yep. I too stopped reading SW comics years ago. I did pick up the last Crimson Empire trade but can't get myself to read it.

I'm into the latest Tardi right now

Glad to hear you liked it! Been meaning to pick up The Underwater Welder since it came out, but haven't really heard much about it. I think that kind of delayed my purchase.

Wood/T P Louise: Lore
Wood's artwork is still getting better  !
The mix of novel and graphic novel works really well and the story itself drags you in from the very beginning.

Along with the latest book of Prison Planet, my brother found me an amazing little collection of El Borbah as a Christmas present. He picked in up for me on a whim, not knowing what it was, but man, what a stroke of luck for me. I am totally a fan of it; so far ahead of its time. The stories are short (most came from Heavy Metal) but great and the artwork is just fantastic.

For any Star Wars lovers out there, Brian Wood just kicked off a Star Wars comic that takes place in continuity between Return of the Jedi and the Empire Strikes back.

I'm not usually into licensed comics, but Wood's a great writer (DMZ, Northlanders).

Worth checking out.

This is a great comic! Warriors of Plasm, a comic mini-series with 13 issues. Including a zero issue which is a full comic made of trading cards. I found a few unopened boxes of trading cards with the sweet Plasm logo on the cover. When I got home and started opening up some of the booster packs I noticed that all the cards are part of a comic pane instead of character details and stats. Turns out that the first or zero issue of this comic is all trading cards that line up to make each page. To me it has an awesome collector value cause you get to find all the cards, and I believe there are special editions tins that were released. I still need a few issues to complete the whole series and still need one or two cards to complete the zero issue. Great comic, i would suggest checking it out.

Never would have given Plasm a second thought, but your enthusiasm has me curious. Might have to give it a read.

Post Re: comics?
Lately I have been reading a lot of Daniel Clowes (Ice Haven, David Boring, and Death Ray). His writing and art really is absolutely well done. I get so engrossed in every character I read about! Definitely recommend any of his stuff. Always into R. Crumb, especially some of his older stuff.

If anyone wants to read something awesome, but pretty short (10 books), pick up Y: The Last Man. Just do it. SO good.

Always wanted to read Charles Burns's stuff, totally next on my list. Black hole looks neat.

Its better than some of the more recent League of Extraordinary Gentlemen installments . . . in my opinion.

Happy May the Fourth and Free Comic Book Day. Not sure I will be able to make it out today, but there are always some interesting things on offer. And don't forget to support your local comic/book show while out.
