Re: How many sofubi figures do you own?
this is a pretty interesting thread, I voted, I'm in the 50-100 number, I just wish we could see who was in each of the boundaries.

1000 +, but I really wish I knew the exact number! I just don't want to dedicate the time to count them all.

Re: How many sofubi figures do you own?
OMG! Just realized I'm nearing 800! I've about 500+- displayed? The rest in boxes. Terrible!
I do keep track of what I've got in case I keel over, someone knows what's these all about.
Like Ralph I've also got this OCD going. Mine's collecting different vinyl base of sculpt I like.
Really need to trim it down.

just to clarify that is 675 all displayed..i don't keep toys in boxes or storage...
if they go off display,,,it means they're off for sale or trade..

if they go off display,,,it means they're off for sale or trade.. Thats a very sane way of dealing with it. It might not apply to some people that move a lot, but if you have your own pad or are grounded in an area, this seems the healthiest thing to do. I think I'll try this.

I should reread this daily. Great perspective G! Either by choice or no choice, parring down can be liberating. Then focusing on a smaller scale as you suggest, can draw out what one really likes or enjoys with even more excitement. At least for me anyway. Sometimes I have this weird OCD issue thinking; "Shit I need at least 3 versions of that because in my mind I think its a great three dimensional triptych to display!". I've gotten better about that hang-up so I've been able to slim things down. I think! ; ) yeah, for me in the recent past with my gargamel and tokoji stuff and what not, it was kind of a "no choice" thing. but i really don't mind too much when i think about how many faces my collection has had. but when my collection was bigger, i remember feeling the most "balanced" when i was just doing 1 of my favorite sculpt with gargamel, and tokoji as a focus. that was when i felt it was the most fun. simple. careful. focused. knowing what you want and finally finding it...it was like every piece was a grail--no matter how common or small. i knew where it was going.

Are you crazy ! I would kill to own half of your collection. Most of the people on the planet with disposable income spend their money on hobbies. In my personal opinion this is by far the most fun and coolest I've ever been involved with. Better than crazy sports collectors! Yeah I said it I love the feeling I get sitting back looking and fooling with my collection of toys. Knowing what you own, I don't think I could ever feel sad or depressed. Your crazy lucky to have the opportunity to have spent the time hunting, going to shows, talking to fellow collectors. Cheer up bud

I LOVE this! I would love to display all my figures, but I have been moving too much recently. We just moved in our new place and my wife organized the entire house before I could finish setting up my curio One day.....I hope to display them all!

Re: How many sofubi figures do you own?
Wow. A somewhat sobering experience actually taking the time to go through and count. Turns out, I doubled what I suspected was the number I'd be at. Great idea for a poll/thread. Very interesting to see the numbers. Quite a few really huge collections. Makes me feel a little better about my crazy collection.

Re: How many sofubi figures do you own?
Never counted before, took a quick tally tonight. I'm at like 125. If I included the stuff that the wife and kids have its an easy 175. I didn't realize it was so many.

Re: How many sofubi figures do you own?
Jeez, I was expecting it to be about 50, and I'm closer to 90! And whereas my collection used to be dominated by Chinese vinyl (before discovering how boring it all was), I've whittled my stash of non-KAWS, non-Biskup Chinese vinyl down to 10 toys, and they're only still around because they wouldn't fetch enough to cover shipping if I tried to sell them. Maybe I should take them to the flea market… jebcrow wrote: just to clarify that is 675 all displayed..i don't keep toys in boxes or storage...
if they go off display,,,it means they're off for sale or trade.. I agree with this 100%. All of mine are on display except for 6 figures that I've been planning on selling but haven't gotten around to putting up. If they're not on display, then I don't need 'em!
