On the Kaws front page, there is large text covering the photo saying that the figure and the paper skeleton will be available as soon as tech issues are resolved.
Good news for those that missed out!

Got this email from kawsone-
Hello,
Despite the major technical issues that arose with our website after
releasing the OF Companion and paper skeleton today, we received your
order, however you were over-charged for shipping and we have issued a
credit of $16.29 back onto your credit card.
Please allow a full billing cycle to pass before you see the credit.
Your order has been processed and will ship out early-mid next week.
You
will receive a shipping notification from FedEx.com with your tracking
information once your package is shipped.
Thank you, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

KAWS is a class-act all the way. Everyone should take note of his graciousness. Consideration is a sign of true respect of his fans. I give him MAD props for correcting any errors in the order process... Remember this.

At the end of the day, KawsOne is a fully fledged online store. If they make a mistake, they will correct it. In the end you are a customer, and they provide customer service. You think if KO overcharged you in shipping and tried to get away with it, won't that just back fire them in the end? Word of mouth can as much work against them...

That would be a valid point if it wasn't KAWS. First of all it's KAWS, peeps drop mad money on his figs all the time, so I don't think a high shipping charge will deter people when you are getting it at retail. He also has a monopoly on his releases, it's not like KAWSONE has to compete with other online stores to get your business.
I agree with piro, just a classy move on their behalf.

Definitely great cust service.I would have happily paid 30 for shipping rather that pay 350 2 minutes after the release on Ebay for one..

Classy???
I never mentioned about the topic of KO charging high shipping costs or if customer's mind. Also I wouldn't bother putting my opinons about value of what other people think a KAWS' figure is worth or question FEDEX shipping rates.
The point I am making is that in this case different people got charged the wrong shipping due to a malfunction in the online store and the normal thing to do is to refund. KAWS is as much a good business man / marketer as he is an artist, so why would he not refund the extra charges? I have never doubted that he would scam on shipping, so why give him props when he refunds a bogus charge??? It's just general business practice for an online store.

Some companies wouldn't bother to refund your money unless you ask or not at all. I thought you were just talking about the high shipping not the two different prices people got, still wasn't too much grumbling about it KR though, if you got one you were happy regardless of price.

I was just reading the KAWs article in S7 this morning, what are the run numbers on this piece? It looks like all the other companions were 500 each.

Damn I'm glad I scored one of the OF originals . . .a 'toy free' weekend away with the wife and kids meant zero chance of scoring one via KAWSONE . . . Congrats to all that did though!
Gotta agree with Kozik and AJ23 . . . the multiple colourawy deal might be a lil' buzkill on this piece

I'm thinking they should do an Astro Boy colorway with the organs painted like robotic parts.

The one on flckr is not part of the hand-painted sculptures (it's a one-off vinyl prototype) - and it's way smaller than the originals. The originals are approximately 16" tall! Jukuan from 360 Toy Group has a jet-black one (which you can see in NYC, if you catch his gallery open) and Nigo has the rest:

Here's a pic from HUGE Magazine (Japanese), from my extensive publications collection on KAWS:
And here's the best I can do for a group shot of Nigo's Astros:
I have a KAWS painting that was once on Nigo's wall, so I think it's not out of the realm of possibility that he would let go of one of his Astros. I believe you'd need to have an original by another artist he admires to trade - I don't think he needs the money.
