I don't think these are big secrets or anything. Just find someone that can write in Japanese and e-mail them, or maybe contact Koji.

You know, I tried Koji once and he told me to simply reference the Gargamel website. Did that, but as most know it hasn't been updated in ages and was missing stuff to start. I'll see if I can't find someone to email him in his/their native tongue

You are right though, for the longest time it looked to be a few years behind. I'm going by the assumption that since the blue 55 unpainted wasn't on their list page, it was never an official run. Therefore it warrants not putting it on this list...maybe another, lottery, lucky bag, misc list?

 Re: zag checklist
The website database isn't complete. Just as an example, it doesn't list some of the 2006 SDCC releases or any of the 2006 LB items.
There were so many non-standard releases thrown into the 2006 LBs, I think it would be nearly impossible to get them all on a list. Even among the Gacha-mecha, there were variations on the hand accessories and inner parts. We may be better off just considering them unofficial releases.

It's been a while but all the hair pulling I initially went thru when I started the list is starting to come back to me. : P Also, and I can't recall where I pulled the image, but above is a an unpainted dark green Zag that looks like the Ichibanboshi version from 2005. I wonder if anyone got this in the 2006 Lucky Bags? Now I'm sort of going back to the blue 55 and this dark green version and wondering if I should reconsider and just include them? I can just note "unofficial" ON the list as you suggested Daniel. I think that's a good compromise and if new info surfaces we can update it. At least it's the beginning of a visual checklist and it can get more comprehensive with time. Some folks showed interest in accessing the template so I wondered if there might be a consensus to recreate this in a different format such as flickr, google+, tumbler, a wp site? It was fairly easy for me to create this via Adobe In-Design and I thought keeping it 8.5"x11" would allow folks the ability to print pages easily and or I can supply a higher rez pdf. I'm open to better ideas. We should have a reference section on the board. Or do we?

 Re: zag checklist
If anyone can help with some pic donations I can get a pretty snazzy version of this checklist up on ShelfLife.net. Especially for the rare stuff the Want lists on there will really shine at pulling shit together.
Cheers

 Re: zag checklist
The list, I thought, was to document the releases, not all the pulls ever to appear once or twice in the lucky bags, or as custom one-offs. That would be impossible. I have seen pictures from Thrashout and other places of various unpainted colors that are not, and probably never will be documented. The list as it stands seems complete, except to be brought up-to-date through the lucky bag 2013. onibaba5 wrote: akum6n wrote: The website database isn't complete. I think the Lucky Bag versions need to be in there, unless I'm reading your post incorrectly. The one-offs, HP's, etc. would be endless and don't need to be in there. If owners wish to post them with provenance then I think that's very cool. But Ralph's listing is tops. I love it and would really like to see it updated. Obviously, this is for selfish reasons. I'd like to make sure my shelves are in order. And by shelves, I only mean two for christs sake

 Re: zag checklist
I think if some unpainted Zags were thrown in lucky bags and I have images, I'll include them, same with the painted versions that were runs in the LBs. HPs or one-offs I will exclude from the list.
Sorry I'm so tardy with getting it updated, just swamped on projects and I was going back and forth deciding if I should re-do it in some other easily accessible software. But the path of least resistance for me is to continue creating the checklist via Adobe InDesign, supply an 8.5" x 11" page/file to post here, and or flickr or anywhere else anyone wants it. I can also upload a pdf to my personal server for folks to download a higher rez version of it, and supply a link.

just quoting this because ive only now just seen this picture, and it really is a great one onibaba5 wrote: akum6n wrote: "Yujin" stands for Yuji N., i.e., Yuji Nishimura of M1. My understanding is that he either designed the color scheme for and/or painted the #12 Zag; maybe also the 2 LB06 Zags. Does anyone know about those? Here is the old thread where Koji explains what those 6 Zags are..."Those header cards are all original vintage bootlegs. And the Zagorans were a gift from Mr. Nishimura of M1, all custom painted." http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/viewtopic. ... a&start=25Four of those paint schemes became production runs.

^^ The first mini zag was based off the bottom left corner as well. Not sure which came first.

 Re: zag checklist
Sorry for the newbie-tastic question, or if this is frowned upon, but can anyone ballpark the price for me? I found this one for sale and the price seems way too good to be true compared to what other versions of Zags are going for. I'm fairly new to collecting but I've seen enough Gargamel stuff to know that this one is priced oddly low... and it's NIB too. I'm absolutely dying to own my first Zag, but I really don't want to get ripped off. But yeah, sorry if price-checking is seen as taboo... I'm just mulling over this purchase in my head, scared I'm going to regret buying it or letting it get away. The struggle is real.

 Re: zag checklist
It's really not a secret that thats from mandarake. Price is good I'd grab it. One-offs range from 250-400. Runs 100-200. Sometimes less. Retail is usually around 100.

I know, it is pretty obvious, but I was nervous. (Do all purchases feel like this? Haha) But I nabbed it, thanks so much for the advice. I'm so excited to know that I finally will have my first Zag! Let's hope it's still in stock in their store, first time buying from Mandarake as well. Waiting for the email confirmation is going to kill me.

 Re: zag checklist
One can identify standard size Zags versus mini Zags based on sculpt. Here is a mini sculpt that looks very different from the standards:

 Re: zag checklist
"adjusts nerd glasses" That's actually the crouching zagoran. A mini zagoran only has articulation at the neck.

 Re: zag checklist
Quick question, were any other sized Zags made with the same spray colors as the 2011 LB version I mentioned earlier? I could have sworn I saw one at some point, but maybe I was just having a crazy toy-collecting dream... My Zag could use a little buddy.
