NO! Screw you science. First you tell me I am a monkey and then you say that 84% of the universe is made up of stuff we can't see or measure?! Bah!

Now back to my thesis writing.....

I say. Makes me want to go back to school. How is that, Chris? ;) (though I'm honestly curious)

It's challenging. But I like a good challenge. 1st semester was a breeze. I barely applied any brain power and got all A's, well except for Math 125 which I got a C. For no advanced math in 23 years I think a C was commendable.

This year Biology and Physics are kicking my butt though I'm maintaining B's as of today which is the midpoint. I'm very much interested in Biology, but it is a hell of a lot of terminology. We're going from small to big starting with atoms/molecules, to functional groups like carboxyl etc etc, to cell functions/processes. Just got into plants today.

Physics on the other hand I'm moaning about every day. Our teacher isn't big on formulas but every test/homework assignment is based on them. I kind of feel like I'm teaching myself. He also loves to give you a ton of work. I have five homework assignments due on top of a formal lab report on every physics lab we do every week. He goes into great length with fire and brimstone speeches on everything he is going to take points off of if we don't write them up exactly how he wants them. Lazy ass teacher.

I'm on spring break from 3/20 to 4/1. Can you believe I'm 44 and have never had a spring break? I stocked up on a heffe weiss import assortment tonight. Guess I could have pm'd all this but no one really is reading this thread...

Hehehe. I tried to take an edX class (intro to circuitry I believe?) and was surprised how fast the physics and maths were coming back, but the kids and full-time job gave me no time to concentrate on it. I'll either have to wait till they've grown a bit or take a sabbatical or grow really tired of my job (and irresponsible) and quit. Still, glad to know it's feasible!

Aaahhhhhhh, what is wrong with you people? Is no one listening to the words that are coming out of my mouth? :o Kill those thoughts, I command you!

Also, Oli, you may have missed the latest memo when you were house-hunting, but our mighty lord and overseer, he who shall never do wrong, hallowed be his name now and forever, has decreed that all government employees and civil servants of all levels must remain at their current level of education, and it is preferred and highly encouraged that you begin to omit facts from your memory.

Sciend is nigh, prepare thyselves.

Last I heard, they found something that looks increasingly "Higgs-like" but they still aren't sure if it is the actual Higgs particle? Either way, it's wonderful news and I'm looking forward to further results!

Pfffft, science. Sure, you developed all the medicines and knowledge to keep me alive. And I suppose you lead to the technology I am using this very second. But what have you done for me lately?

Canadian Government votes against… Science

Error. Error. Does. Not. Compute.

Okay, to combat the severe brain ache caused by the above, I command you to watch the following video from Smarter Every Day demonstrating the effect of the 'Prince Rupert Drop.' You don't need to learn anything, but I doubt you will be disappointed. Science.
