Ana is very sweet. She even sent me a holiday card, with a hand drawn cadaver kid inside, all the way from Brazil. She loves Unpainted CKs and is trying to collect them, so please don't take it personally PK, I think It just came across the wrong way.

Yes, I predict more CKs in Paul's future.

Uuumm I wasn't that serious.
Let me explain.
I know how veracious the "blank" collector can be.
and always carry a whip and chair when in their presence.
Just ask Hellopike.

I hear that, I and it's really a recent phenomenon I don't get. I think the occasional blank is nice to add some variety, But I really feel a group of unpainteds feels like it's missing something in comparison to a grouping of painted figures. But, everyone has their own preference.

In no particular order to me- the 3 best painters out there are you, Rich, and Blobpus. All of which I've now had (or will shortly have) the fortune of seeing your paint work on my figures. And I'd always opt for a painted from you over a blank figure,

Originally I had issue with unpainteds. I felt the character was usually brought to life by colorways and variations. Now though I love both of them equally, an unpainted can really bring out the sculpt and let the concept and work sing for itself. Meanwhile a painted piece can harness those details and take them in different directions. Regardess when it comes to both of you as well as rich and blobpus I feel that both types of work carry the same weight and both feel the same amount of special.

Joe, I think your figs have total vintage "Marx" Weirdo's appeal unpainted.

Let me try and splain'.
When you start as a painter , then you bust ass to make a fig you want to paint, then there's people don't want them painted.
It's a very weird wall to smash your head through sometimes.
But then again, I only collect blanks of my stuff.
So it makes me a hypocrite!
I am ashamed of my love for blanks. Maybe that's it.
I just need to let go.(No not selling blanks!)

I love unpainted toys, esp. when you have color variations leading to the next color, it really shows the appeal of unpainted toys. Its only helps when the fig is created with so much personality that its stands alone without paint and the vinyl color shines. Its a two for one, beautiful shiny vibrant vinyl in the shape of a kooky character.

And I guess I'm the odd man out, I sell blanks and love it, don't hate me guys hahaha

Thanks for including me in that group Joe and Mike, I'm honored :)

I like to release blanks every now and then. I do like an occasional blank mixed in for variety among painted figures.

It can be tough as a maker deciding what you keep. I'm a hoarder and keep one of every painted release and the occasional blank, but my figures are small and I can store a whole bunch in a small box.
Once the Evolved Digglers and Cadaver Twins and other larger figures start rolling and I run out of space I might have to reevaluate what I keep.

Maybe I expressed my love for unpainted Cadaver Kid in a wrong way... I am sorry, Paul and Joe. The Community knows I respect and admire both of you as Artists. I enjoy my SPLURRT toys, and I wish I could display a PK toy in my collection, too. Please, Paul: I hope you don't carry a whip and chair if I meet you in person someday…

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Well we cut it close, but were able to get Evolved Beast Diggler vinylized and a small painted run done in time for next weeks TAG show. These are going straight from Japan, so you guys in LA will probably see Big Dig in his vinyl glory before I even do

The yellow blanks should be in the mail to me very soon.

Those look very good Joe, I think even more people will be after these than even the normal Splurrt figures. There's going to be some lucky people checking these out at the TAG show.

Painted Digs looks fantastic. Good luck with your show on the 6th Joe, I am def envious of anyone who will be attending.

As far as the blank phenomenon goes.....I love painted figures.....you get the best of both worlds. It allows the collector to appreciate the artists imagination and skill it took to develop the figure, but also you get a beautifully painted piece of art at the same time.
To score a blank figure is usually more difficult, as they are often times very rare and hard to find. So that makes them special in a way that a painted figure can not be (most of the time). In the end it's really up to the collector, I have a little bit of both in mine. At this point in time I would love a few more unpainted figures to balance out the painted to unpainted ratio, but I would never turn down the opportunity to score a new painted run of something I love at any given point in time.

Really looking forward to some Blobpus and PK Vs. Splurrt in the near future. My favorite painters are Paul, Joe, Blobpus and Rich as well.....no given order, you guys are all very talanted.

Thanks, the process took about 4 months, but Ricky worked as fast as he could to help me get it done in time for the TAG show. So thanks to Velocitron, and he also painted those TAG Digglers for me.

WOW - evolved painted Diggler is impressive Joe!

On the unpainted discussion part of this thread - given an ultimate choice between the two, then its painted - but I love to display as many variations as possible museum style - so I hunt down un-paints as well. I could never strip a figure - so it has to be the real deal - ideally direct from the creator. That direct connection makes it mean so much more.

In an ideal world without space and fund limitations I'd display a painted vinyl with its blank equivalent next to it to show a before and after themed display.
