You can't really split all the best loved licenses from these two things. But since Tsubu is the effects genius, and he is what is contributing that part that I love to the Toho studio films, there really isn't any question who to vote for (for me).

Bring on the fight!

Hey, if you have Ultra in your name and your avatar is a Tsuburaya kaiju, I think you know who you gotta go with!

Yeah, but on the flip of the coin, I have to "dance with the one" that started it all ... going back to 1954!! (even though my avatar is 1964).

Toho came first but I feel Tsuburaya Productions was more inovative and brought a wider scope of things to the table

Yeah, not having any Goji's in the collection would be a bummer... it would feel strange to collect kaiju and not have at least one in the mix.

Not that it changes my vote any, but I think we ought to clarify then if you are talking about the kaiju themselves, the shows/movies, the toys, or all of the above/none of the above. I didn't take it to mean our collections, but that does seem to be the consensus now - I was probably just braindead from the start.

In my original question I was just thinking licensed collectables of all sorts (not just sofubi). We'll say you can still watch/buy media from either company, just no toys or clothing or what have you.

I am really surprised it is so one-sided (thus far); I was kind of imagining a blow-out in the opposite direction. Hooray for Tsubu love!!

While it would certainly be hard to part with the Matangos, Gojis, and Hedos I have, for instance, there still is no contest for my love and devotion. I world without Tsuburaya is a world I don't want to live in.

To be sure, "what would Eiji do?" in responding to this poll? He started with Toho, and grew and excelled in mastering his special effects craft. He then used his skills to invent the Ultra dimension of kaiju-dom in 1965/66... which included "borrowing" some of the Toho suits to recreate new Ultra kaiju such as Neronga, Jirass, Gomess, Gaborah and Pagos.

So which came first, the chicken or the egg? None the less, I love them both!
