 Flatwoods
Not sure where to post this, but I figured it was too good not to post. I went into a stationary store after dinner tonight and saw this killer glasses stand:

Haha, cool. But I object to you posting this on Skullbrain, as it is clearly "Not a Toy."

 Re: Flatwoods
That thing is so cool! Here's the weirdest flatwoods thing I have. I read a tip online on roadside america that if you go to a sonoco station in Flatwoods, WV ("the one across from the Shoneys") and go into the attached teddy bear gift shop, there are these ceramic flatwoods monsters you could buy. (This story was too weird not to check out, and we had already visited point pleasant earlier that day to see the monthman!) http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/12075Skylar and I reluctantly wandered in to this teddy bear gift shop in a gas station (it smelled like apples and vanilla candles) and we were like "this is bullshit". As we were about to walk out, we saw this: There they were on an upside down fruit crate in front of the window standing about a foot tall. Holy. Shit. The story is real. Inside each was a creepy photocopy of this 1952 newspaper clipping about the sighting. No tag, no sticker, nothing else indicating where they came from or who made them or why they were for sale in this bear gift store. They were around $25-$30 each. We bought 3 and a Sunday paper, to wrap them in. All 3 made it home safe and are in our collection. We watch a lot of UFO documentaries, and many UFO weirdos have them in the background. Clearly they went into the same weird bear shop in WV to get one. I felt like part of a secret club.

 Re: Flatwoods
That is an awesome story Missy, and man do I want one of those. You were very wise to pick up three when you had the chance. All right, who is the one that wants to go on a road trip?

 Re: Flatwoods
Its about a 2 hour drive between Point Pleasant, WV and Flatwoods, WV, so you can double up on your UFO hunting. There is an amazing Mothman Museum in Point Pleasant and they do a festival every year. I think some SB people go. Maybe you can coordinate!

 Re: Flatwoods
Well yeah I set up at Mothman Fesitival every year.
Maybe this year I will commit to the extra 2 hour drive to buy the flatwoods guy.

I must have this. I wish I had known about it when I was younger and there. The photo copy of the newspaper in it makes it even cooler. missy wrote: That thing is so cool! Re: Flatwoods
Awesome ceramic piece. I like how you can see inside its chest and eyes. That totally beats alien jerky on the way to vegas

 Re: Flatwoods
I am not sure if it was meant that way or not (from the sounds of it, it could just as likely as have been done for some cheesy potpourri accessory) but I was hoping that you could stick a tea light inside there, and have those parts light up. Guess I grew up with too many of those homemade Star Wars ceramics.

 Re: Flatwoods
All of those glasses holders are great, I don't know which I like better. What a weird assortment though. Army, spaceman, flatwoods? haha
