Ah, I did not know about the 'bonus.' But now that I know it comes after the credits, I will definitely put in the patience. Yeah reboot/remake/re-imagining, it is all pretty much the same to me.

Whatever we say, they won't listen, and people will keep paying the ticket prices, so in the end, that is the bottom line. The problem is there are enough people out there, that even if you make a complete flop, some people will go see it. The formula for making a good movie, from the point of a fan anyways, seems not too difficult; but anyway, I digress.

This list seems pretty obvious to me, but maybe it does need to be said:

I hear you 100% but I still think it's worth a watch. I suppose the clincher will be how cynical you are about it. I feel the intellectual property is rich enough to warrant a reboot like this. Think of it as the book, the evil force and the cabin getting a little more love. This is what I wrote to my FB friends since I know many are skeptical and love the originals. I stand by it...
"If you are on the fence about Evil Dead, go. They did a great job of rebooting the intellectual property without trying to force a straight remake. It has it's own feel and atmosphere but stays true to many of the cornerstones of the original trilogy. Just the right mix of cinematography, gross out splatter gore and inappropriately funny moments. I thoroughly enjoyed it."

I am so fucking over reboots.
My friend that first made me watch evil dead on vhs years ago saw it and had nothing positive to say so I'll be passing (as I had planned.)

Depending on how you take it (and who you ask) I am either the most cynical person you have ever met, or a movie buff. But in either case, the thing is, I will watch just about anything, and I mean the cheesiest crappiest popcorn flicks they are making these days. BUT, what I always tell people is, I will watch something, but then I reserve the right to complain about it. It is also worth pointing out that going to the movies these days is so costly, and I am broke, so most things get relegated to downloads or the budget cinema, if I am lucky. But movies, especially the bad ones, deserve to be seen on the big screen. At least when it is schlock that way you have some intense visual experience out of it. Home viewing on my small television has no doubt tainted my view on many a film, deservedly or not.

I saw it yesterday and felt pretty much the exact same way. It was a B+ and definitely worth a watch.

as I thought, unnecessary remake. It added nothing new to the series and did nothing innovative. There is no reason for it to be made. (and you guys do realize the comedy you all speak if is only in evil dead 2- the original was a straight horror movie.) the stinger was not worth paying again. don't bother. Fucking Hollywood, man.

Well aware that the comedy didn't come into the series until 2. This new version wasn't really comedic though, just had a few parts where people burst out laughing from a line or event.

Cabin in the woods was an homage to the original evil dead, amongst other things, but seeing this after recently seeing cabin in the woods was kind of strange in a cyclical sort of way.

I thought it was good though. Didn't stick around for the credits though. Anyone want to message me what happened?

So what did everyone think? The trailer looks insane, but I can't get over an Evil Dead without Bruce. I'll catch it on Netflix one day.

It was fun watching it in a packed theater during a late night showing. Like I said before, I wasn't blown away but had a fun time with it. I don't see myself watching it again though.

I don't get the hate? I loved it, I went in with high expectations and got exactly what I wanted. Nobody trying to be Ash which was my favorite part.

Everyone wanting Ash and hail to the king and blah blah blah avoid this movie.

i haven't seen it yet, not sure if i'll shoot for a theater showing or not... i just need to know if there's any reference to "a farewell to arms" in there.

i saw it this weekend, i give it a C. But didn't stay through the credits, so maybe that would have redeemed it. Now I want to rewatch the original. Really liked Cabin in the Woods, though!

I'd kill for an AoD2, way more than an Evil Dead remake, but I'm guessing that ship has sailed.

Glad to hear it was over all pretty good. I'm just so sick of remakes. Where are all the original ideas?

Army of Darkness 2 is happening!!

I ended up seeing it with a friend on Friday and enjoyed it. I knew nothing about it going in and enjoyed the fact that they're was no Ash character. I didn't stay through the credits, can anyone post the stinger in spoiler tags?

I had no idea that Army of Darkness 2 is happening, I am so stoked for that!

I saw it and liked it, not a great movie and ended up rooting for the people to get killed, but it still entertained me. Idiotic ending, but overall I did like the effects. Some one-liners, but overall nothing memorable in terms of acting. It did needed to be cornier, at least for me.


I say, skip it and watch it on blu-ray. It was fun, but not full-ticket-price fun.

As for AoD2, I dont know whats gonna happen, before you know it all of those franchises are gonna start rebooting again. ugh.

I find it strange when people who are a fan of horror films, and know what they are about, have a hard time with animals getting hurt or killed or tortured or what have you. My mother is like this, and I grew up watching horror movies with her. I love animals, would never hurt one intentionally, and think animal abuse in real life is absolutely heinous... but I am also pretty apposed to things like murder, torture, tree-rape, and eternal damnation when it comes to people so I can accept the fate of animals just like I can other graphic violence in a film.
