About as explainable as Carolina keeping pace with the Bruins right now! WTF. I hate fucking Carolina, and the whole Staal family.

I agree with you on that. Sure, there is a tendency to dislike any opposing team, but Carolina is another one that gets me too. I could not be happier to see Cole gone - the day he came over was brutal, and it is so painful to hate a guy on your own team.

Well we just got the dread pirate Carl Soderberg from the Swedish elite league coming this week. At 6'3" 210 with a scoring touch and no fear of being physical he'll fit right in.

That's like Raffi Torres coming to San Jose. NO ONE likes him out here. I keep telling people...sure he's a jerk, but now he's our jerk.

Anyone else watching this Chicago vs St. Louis game? Probably the most intense game I've seen all season. Hitting galore, very fast paced end to end (my favorite kind of game)

The Habs are self-destructing. Watching the past week's games is like watching them the past few seasons. I don't know what is going on, who spiked the water, but they need a serious smack of common sense. They've already gotten the beat down.....repeatedly....so I don't know what is left. Tough days to be a fan, even if they have clinched a berth in the playoffs.

Yeah, I really thought the Pens would struggle tonight.

If there is a guy I hate on the Bruins it's Andrew Ference! Can any of the Bruins NOT get a penalty in the last minute of the game and give up a 4 on 6 powerplay? Fucking christ in a sidecar already!

What's this, the Habs came out of the first period and weren't down by four goals? Well that is a start. I just hope that we get out all these 'streaks' now before the playoffs.

And I kid around, but the media and general populace in Montreal is brutal - I give a lot of credit to people that play here (who deserve it) and have to deal with these fickle fans and media. Especially the goalies. This is one tough city.

Not gonna lie, I see that as good news for us, the gap for positioning is so tight right now. I hope we can pull of two points from Washington today to maintain our slim lead.

With the way the Habs goalies have been playing and the way Ovechkin has been playing, it doesn't look like a win for the Habs...but I am always the optimist (even if it is just slightly optimistic) so I'm looking for the Habs to squeak out a win.

It is definitely time to start stepping up and steal us some games. The playing since clinching that spot has sure been lacklustre both offensively and defensively. Hopefully Diaz coming back makes up a little for the loss of Emelin. No more time for bonehead plays.

Nope, I could care less actually. Like I said before I don't think the Bruins are going anywhere this year so I have no expectations. They might win a round in the playoffs but a team that plays one period (the first) like the Bruins and can neither score after that nor hold a lead is doomed. You can't hand teams victories with giveaways and penalties in the third like they do. I'm a realist.

Pens fans on the other hand, think because they have a few of the best players in the world (albeit ones made of glass that can't stay healthy for any kind of a stretch) the cup is their destiny every season. So their disappointment from high expectations most years is my satisfaction.

Oh and I could care less about the Sabres Bert. Nothing against the team just know it's one of the worst run in the league. The city of Buffalo is not where I'm from either. I fucking hate this city.

Oh and I just tuned in to the Caps/Habs game- sweet fucking goal by Ovie! Oh wait damn they just scored again...

My brother went to school up in Rochester so he cheers for the Sabres. He's pretty much sad each time they play. Hahahaha!

Yeah...fine time for Price to try out new equipment. I just got a flyer from a hockey shop advertising the new CCM goalie equipment and Price was the one in the picture. I was telling my brother, does CCM want to sell this stuff...cause now is not a good time to have Price showing off the equipment with the stats he's been putting up lately.

Man, the team really needs to pull it together. Another awful game rife with mistakes. You might get away with that garbage from time to time with some shittier teams, but this will never hold mustard against anyone with offense and a decent goalie - nevermind in the playoffs.

I only caught the first 2 NJ goals. I just shook my head and said I'm glad I can't watch the game. On the West side...Sharks clinch a playoff spot. Logan Couture will only get better as the seasons go by. It will be a sad day for me when the Sharks trade him and Pavs away in the future. The good news is that the Sharks are not the top seed in the West. Hopefully they won't choke come playoffs.

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
Hate to break it to everyone here but there is a very small percentage chance we'll see any surprises come playoff time. In the east it will come down to Pittsburgh and Washington (who have been playing the best hockey in the NHL lately), maybe you might get a surprise run by the Islanders. Boston's going nowhere (can't score, allow way too many shots/giveaways), Montreal- goaltending, Toronto will self destruct, Rangers ain't going anywhere, same with Ottawa if they make it.

The west I'm less unsure about because I haven't seen that many games, but I'm sure it's going to come down to Chicago, Anaheim, and the Kings.

Agreed. I mean, sure, as a fan you are always hopeful, but I don't expect miracles either. I have been forecasting a Chicago-Pittsburgh final for a while now. I am still happy for the playoffs though, always great to see that level of hockey (when teams actually perform) and having a strong NE contingent is great. I know the media just wants to shove Toronto down our throats, but I'd still like to somehow see Boston/Montreal in the second round.
