 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Thanks, Paul! And thanks to the dollar-yen exchange rate for making it all possible! paulk wrote: Is there any noticeable difference between the Hawaii export ones and ones sold in Japan, or is it just that you know yours came from someone who bought it as a kid in Japan? Nope, no noticeable physical differences in the two releases of the pink Hedorah. Like you said, this particular figure's provenance has been established: I guess the person who originally purchased it at retail bought it in Japan...and decades later, sold it to the store I got it from. The store manager made it a point to emphasize that. It's not the mintiest specimen ever, given the paint wear, but that pink vinyl is super-vibrant. I really need to take better pics...without the silhouette of my melon reflected in the background.

^ Hey, get back to work! Nice Michael, judging from the important sacrifices you made, I can picture something pretty special coming.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
LOL. One paper is done just have to do the bibliography proof read etc. The other one is shorter and not due till Monday.
BTW I got a 47 on my 2nd Physics hour test. Fucking brilliant right? Part of it is my complete loathing of the subject matter, how the teacher refuses to go over examples in class, won't show useful formulas, claims we either get the concept or fail! The teacher literally has Hitler tirades every day and a majority of the class completely disconnects from any teaching he might do. Thank fuck he drops the lowest grade but that's all he does. I'm doomed in that class.
Anyhow toys keep my sanity so please someone post some Vintage Toy Porn for me...Looking forward to your score Michael.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Sorry to hear about that ass of a teacher Lixx. At least the grade will be dropped though. I can't oblige with much new pics, and flickr has been down for me all day, but here is a fairly new (to me) guy. Not sofubi per se, but great vintage rubber toy joy. Love his goofy grin.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
I like your Gezora Jordan. He looks pretty cool washed out like that actually. So of course every time I see a vintage Gezora I think of how M1 corrected the leg problem when they reissued them. Having a few of those (reissues) I always wonder is it hard to stand the originals?

Glad to see you got a Gezora, Jordan. It's funny how we were talking about how both of us needing to score one right before you left SoFla. Now I've got to find me one too!

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
even though this is my most recent purchase, it is my favorite toy in existence of toys. Todogirah, the stellar sea lion kaijin. Yellow vinyl with metallic blue and silver sprays, perfect combination of absurd and crude head sculpt with a smooth body sculpt, and vampire teeth! Vintage bandai can do no wrong in my eyes.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Nice addition to your collection Michael. I agree with your love of vintage Bandai. They really did kick ass back then.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Awesome find Michael. That was definitely worth the tease, and I am happy you scored him. I really like the blue paint on that cream body, and like you said, the silver just notches it up further. Beautiful example of these Bandai villains; really got to get back on hunting them myself when I can afford it.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
yeah- i cant stop staring at this toy. notice where the scratch on the front of the leg is- above that there is some weird vinyl deformity/texture/who knows what. theres strange little textured bits on the legs. when the sun comes out ill take some detailed pictures and post accordingly. in the meantime- enjoy the character from the show with his weird pinhead!

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Bandai Raideen I picked up not too long ago. Pretty awesome to have one these robos in a standard size (he is around 23 cm) and soft vinyl. Usually you get the detailed smaller versions or plastic jumbos. Looks like he may have had a weapon, but the 'hole' might have been made after, I am not sure (and it was not listed among those at the TBDX here).
