 Re: FiveStar Toys
Those are Medicom releases. According to the publicity material, they are from a new line of Nostalgic Sofubi Collection Reborn, i.e. newly styled FiveStar guys. Muscle Revenger (top) and Muscle Park (bottom). The body is basically the same as the Tiger Mask figures, but I am not sure if they are trying to do a crossover with these or what the intent was exactly. I don't feel the whole removeable head thing, while being awesome for toys, fits these characters, and the whole different proportion feels off to me. Interesting, but nothing I would necessary buy, especially when the normal FiveStar NSC figures are so much better.

 Re: FiveStar Toys
Thanks for the info! Now that you mention it they do look like the Medicom tiger mask repro. I quite like them although I agree, regular Five Star releases are on a completely different planet.

 Re: FiveStar Toys
To echo the sentiments above, I'd *probably* be all over those mask-off figures...if it weren't for the regular FiveStar line...which, for all intents and purposes, is a Kinnikuman fan's wet dream.

Okay, since you are prodding me, what about all the medium scale figures?
Was it on your blog I read about the Kinnikuman fan who collected the bricks from one of artist's Osaka home when it was demolished? I couldn't find it again, but anyways, that is some dedication. They are called "Dekakeshi," or "Deka Kinkeshi." They were released by Popy and Bandai in the early 80's. There is also the giant "Great Kinkeshi" versions which are pretty damn cool as well. Check out this thread over at LRG for lots of pics and info: http://www.littlerubberguys.com/forums/ ... ntry286722While we never got these in the states, I wold say that overseas collectors are much more into these than the standard Japanese line. I almost have a complete collection myself.... Here is a link to the story you mentioned: http://www.nama-niku.blogspot.com/2012/ ... art-7.html

 Re: FiveStar Toys
Thanks man, another huge help as always. I really need to spend more time digging through all the old threads on LRG. I am not sure I can afford any more 'addictions' though, trying my hardest just to keep this one in check!

I think you will really enjoy the series even if you have seen it before. I think the Scramble to the Throne Arc is the best. The story line from the Monster Hunters and The 20th Choujin Olympics is just okay. The Seven Devil Choujins story, The Golden Mask Arc and the Dream Choujin Tag Arc are all super rad.

The Five Star Toy guys stopped by Rampage Studios in Tokyo, picked up some of my figures, and even covered it on their blog: http://ameblo.jp/fivestartoy/entry-11519533782.htmlToo funny....

 Re: FiveStar Toys
I am doing a solo keshi show at Rampage in September. Will have two of my new 100% original keshi sculpts there, and am working on an exclusive Nama Niku colorway for a certain Five Star figure…. That is all I can say right now.... I figured if they would not license anything for the states, then I would work out an exclusive for my blog when I was in Japan….

 Re: FiveStar Toys
Awesome news! I am really excited for all these new guys being put out by you and some others in Muscle scale. Between the stuff at Jon's store and SuperFest, I am just blown away by the ongoing creativity and successful executions. This guy has me drooling, so cool: Can't wait to see what is in the works now.

Apprecaite the kind words. Just did these for Grass Hut (all cast in flexible rubber):

 Re: FiveStar Toys
I love the Dungeon Bastard. Saw him on Bwana's flickr a while back and have been waiting for him to pop up in the shop. Haha, I even re-googled him earlier today just in case in fact! Classic headers too, love it.

 Re: FiveStar Toys
Oh man...can't wait to see your exclusive FS figure! Just outta curiosity, do you cast your own LRGs or does Eric (or someone else) handle that part? Of course, if it's a "trade secret", feel free to tell me to mind my own damn business!

Of course, if it's a "trade secret", feel free to tell me to mind my own damn business! Depends on the figure and or release. Eric casts most, Trutek does some, Muscle Things has done some, and I have cast some. I am a collaboration fiend. Those ring figures for example... Eric did the casting, and I cleaned up the figures and added the hand threaded ropes. I do all the header card designs. Just depends on the LRG. P.S. If anyone is looking for any HTF Five Star stuff: http://www.nama-niku.blogspot.com/2013/ ... u-day.html

Whoa! Why can't we have a "Gomu Day", dammit??? Well, I just put in my vain request for that blue Haniwaman. What're the odds he'll still be available??? LOL Anyway, thanks for the info on your figures, Ty. That's cool. Hey, nothing wrong with collaborations!

Just plunked down for the Wonderfest Kinnikuman in Robin Mask armor. I think I am in serious trouble with these.

 Re: FiveStar Toys
Are you talking about the one from last year? Or is there a new one??? I've also been really tempted by that Warsman in Robin Mask (two-tone blue) color scheme. But what I'm *really* waiting for is a painted Big the Budo, dammit!

But what I'm *really* waiting for is a painted Big the Budo, dammit! No, same one from last year. I just didn't realize these existed until a few months ago. I held onto my m.u.s.c.l.e. figures for a very loooooong time so when I saw the sofubi versions my jaw hit the floor. I'm hoping they keep this style or continue it for the kinnikuman rather than the new versions that fit in with Tiger Mask. I prefer the closer match to the original toys.
