Are you referring to the Biliken release? I didn't' and already the regret is setting in.

I was thinking about the Marusan, I totally spaced on the Billiken.

Just heard the Marusan was super limited, no wonder I never saw anything about it.

I was interested in the Marusan, then i found out it was flesh unpainted. Hopefully I can find access to a future painted release, that is assuming that happens.

Ah yes. I remembered the Marusan version had straighter leg compared to Biliken's that's more bowed.

Did you guys in Tokyo see any prototype of the Marusan? What I saw was only a pic. Can't find it now.

I ordered both the Billiken and Marusan. Can't wait to see them side by side.

The only thing at the event was a picture on an ad for the toy. I didn't look any closer.

Argh, 30? Don't tell me Marusan will be the new Gorilla Ju. I was really excited for a giant Mechanikong, especially dont in a classic style. I really hope they can somehow do a painted release too (and hopefully not in this restricted fashion)

He is a giant-sized that was first 'revealed' as far as I know at SuperFest. You can just see it at the SAN booth in Andy's pic (embiggen for more detail):



I was trying to keep mention of him to a minimum, but it is probably too late to blow up the hype for this guy anyways (at least I hope that is true...), but I am still hoping for some miracle to occur and one of these can somehow be had.

I'd kill for a painted version of the Marusan.
I don't really understand the "restriction" thing and why it's unclear if a painted version will be released. Or am I getting the info mixed up?

What do u mean? U read somewhere there is no painted version? A bit unthinkable since marusan is a profit seeking organisation as a company. They must hope to recover the production cost and to make a tidy profit to sustain the company. hence i dun think they will stop at this unpainted flesh version unless they ran into license issues, then this go in the way of the apes japan's kongs. From the way the marusan guys spoke about it, i have the impression that getting them wouldn't be as tough as some other expensive brands. I hope at that time there are still enough folks bothered to pay attention.

I'm sure Marusan will want to make maximum ¥¥¥ but Toho pull the licensing strings!

That's what I'm worried about, and on top of it anything Kong related is always nearly impossible.

I don't care about the problems making Mechani Kong Mecha Kong or whatever what you want to call it anymore, flesh arrived today and looks like more to come!

I got a clearer translation for the brown now, Marusan is taking pre-orders until 7/8. But you must have a Japanese mailing address and payment must be made by 7/8 also.
