Oh wow thanks for the info Paul! So they're not as big as the originals but definitely bigger than the Zollmen minis? Maybe U.S. Toys shampoo bottle size? Very excited! Way to go Medicom!

I dunno.
These look exact to me.
The zollmen minis were "simulations" in mini size.
These might be cast off the originals I'm thinking.

Yeah, actually looking at the CKA pic I posted above, they do! Awww man I can't believe these are being made. Hopefully they will be available overseas. That email reply I got from them gave me hope, but now I'm over the moon. Medicom is really turning out some great vintage reproductions lately. I mean things that are really hard to find, and if you do super pricey. The Triton vinyls, and now hopefully the Yonezawa Nodders. I wonder how they're able to get all these original molds?

:o This is some fantastic news. I am really blown away now. Medicom has been doing fantastic work with these vintage re-issues and seeing these Yonezawa nodders materialise will really make my year for toy releases. I don't know how much your email contact contributed to this Lixx, and I don't want to know, I extend my hand and tip my hat to you sir, as far as I am concerned this might as well be thanks to you. I am really happy to see these guys, and have to start saving up the cash now.

Yeah, he was a pretty iconic villain in Mazinger Z. If I recall correctly, he was the baddie in Mazinger's first "upgrade" episode, where they added rockets to his feet so he could travel through water and even do boosted leaps into the air.

Did anyone see this from a few days ago? I was watching it for interest's sake, since I had never seen it before, but obviously couldn't dive in for that amount. Such a cool item though, I love learning about new stuff like this existing. I would have loved this when I was a kid (and of course still now...)

I just saw an auction for one of this sets like a week ago but without suitcase. Did not follow it till the end but it didn't seem like it was going to end up for a lot.

But then again, a nice complete set like this one makes all the difference. Very nice indeed.

Speaking of rare Mazinger Zs, this large size figure (28.5 cm) was a real beauty.

Image

I love the changeable clear arms, and his odd proportions. Really gives him some different character, plus it makes him look like he's got a bit of tummy/odd child chubbiness thing going on, something I love (and know well). :) His extra-high mantle is great too, makes him have even more 'crown' stature - he is both cute and foreboding, a perfect combination.

Image

Damn I would love one of these so much. Oku strikes again!

Yeah, that Mazinger's killer. I prefer the MFV because it's got the added gimmick, yellow Breast Fire plates, and it's obviously a LOT easier to find...but like you said, the sculpt on this one is fascinating. Very different compared to most Mazinger stuff. Regal, almost. And using a consistent light blue for all the "bare metal" parts is the other aspect that I love. Puts this toy in a different league...

Some recent auctions I was watching:

What's the deal with this Ultraseven, is it because the base vinyl color is rare?:

Speaking of Ultraseven (my fave lol), why did this go so high? The smaller versions on the side I knew existed but never really see them come up, unless that larger one is actually bigger, and the smaller ones are the versions that normally come up. Someone enlighten me, because this is one of the Ultraseven's I don't have. :

Yeah, the first guy is definitely because the head was painted grey, rather than made out of grey vinyl - what an interesting variant. Even though all the paint is gone, I really like him in the all-red look. He would look really nice next to the red mini. Painted up though, I bet he is really nice too, as the paint gives it a whole different level than the grey vinyl. Shame there aren't more oddball guys like this to take down the price.

As for the second set, the middle figure is the standard one. The other two I am not sure I have seen before. The bodies and limbs are much thinner and the arm 'stance' is wider and more curved. Very cool finds Lixx. Glad someone else loves U7 too! :)

I think these are the Marusan "middle size" which are all pretty tough to find. I know the kaiju in this line go for serious money. You can see all of them here:

Ah, that Ultraseven list is so beautiful (but also a bit painful :P ) to look at. I had seen a lot of the mid-scale Bullmarks before, the ones just slightly bigger than the minis, with some articulation, but I have never seen these middle ones before. So interesting. I think I might have only ever seen the Eleking, but didn't know it represented another mini line. I would really love to check out some of these in person. The waist articulation on Mikuras is really cool.

Thanks Viva. I had that site bookmarked but completely forgot about it. The real Ultraseven jewel for me would be to find a removable mask Ultraseven, but I've never seen one come up except once without a mask.

Goddammit oku/mandarake!! Can't you let the small bidder have a break for once? :(

This is pretty disheartening for sure, can't bid on any rare old stuff anymore without being blown out of the water by them. It's seems it started when they opened that Museum/Shop last October.

I actually beat Mandarake a few weeks back on a (bagged no less) bootleg standard sized Lion Maru. They beat my initial bid and as soon as I saw that oku**** bid with bonus time added I was like "Awww hell no, not going to happen!" I bid a thousand more yen I think, expecting a bid war I'd lose but to my surprise they didn't get into it and I ended getting it cheap- 6760 yen.

Here's how close:

Well if they really want it I'm sure we'll all lose! My logic was I'm not going to make it easy for them and just maybe it will ruin their profit margin, and they'll let it go.
