Ultraman Cigarette Lighter.

Any of you knowledgeable SB'ers seen this before?. I picked it up the other day at a boot sale from an old dude . . . . he said, "its very unusual isn't it?".

I was just wondering how old it is and if there were many made, like a series of them or something. There's a few pics on google of plastic Ultraman lighters but nothing like this metal one.
I'm assuming its vintage but have no idea really!

No manufacturers mark.
No date mark.
50mm high.
Quite heavy, made of metal.
Eyes light-up and flash red when you use it.

haha, very strange indeed. i have a "bronze" godzilla lighter with articulated arms and legs, and red jewel light up eyes that light up when there is butane. i found it at a really shitty outdoor market in spain, then i seemed to find a bunch more godzilla bootleg lighters in different styles but had to cut myself off

edit* heres a picture. the flames would come out of the mouth (naturally)

Image

about 2 inches tall

^^^ Woah . . . thats really cool :)

I'm assuming the light up eyes are a common feature of these lighters. I wouldn't mind having a little collection of these.

Cool find, I have seen a few lighters before, but not this one. I would guess it is a bit newer (late 80s or later) based on the material and the whole SD look. So where does the flame come out then and how do you 'spark' him? Pity his power gem is on the back, but I guess it has to be in that crossed-arm pose.

Love this! I've only really seen the Beetland goji lighters, wouldn't mind starting this collection either!

Yeah, 80's but i suppose it could be newer. You just click the stalk down on the top of his head and the flame comes out directly from the top. There is a little air vent just to the side too. The action is solid and good quality . . . I'm gonna keep my eye out for some more of these. Its cool having something metal when everything else in my collection is vinyl.
