 Re: monster drawings
^^ I love the tributes both of you guys did. Really excellent jumbo homage Jeff, makes me want some neo-versions of these figures now! And great Slobulus Michael - gruesome and loveable, just as he should be.

This could be part of a mural painting by Siqueiros or Rivera. zapatoloco wrote: An unconscious tribute to something, i'm sure...

 Re: monster drawings
Michael, i am really appreciating this recnt slight shift in style ( line thickness, stipling regularity, color use, i don't know exactly...) . These are really nice and i am not even a fan of madballs (!). As for tribal, my long years as an anthropology student would go a long way in explaining that...
Axolotl: if only ...could i travel to 1930 Mexico i would be there already !
Steve: good associations, theres certainly some ultrus bog in there too with some devilman and those west african revelers in multicolored woolens that appeared in NG (?) and circulated around the web. Also a a bit of evil elves and Barom 1 Antmen. The pose is reminescent of precolumbian human sacrifice scenes except the victim is missing here.

 Re: monster drawings
thanks zap, stippling is like meditation for me, i just get into the zone and go for it. i just recently ran out of cold press watercolor paper and dont want to buy anymore until im in america in about a month, so it will be back to black and white for a while! i managed to crank out one more madball tribute, this time its Aargh. here they are all together

I was going to ask you your technique, if you lay the watercolors over pencil, then ink it? What kind of markers are you using? I prefer Micron but they can be spotty, or fade when erasing pencil lines. For awhile I was inking with paint markers but too many ink blobs and smudges ruined that. These look awesome.

 Re: monster drawings
thanks! my technique is rather simple, with some silly secrets that i use. i usually ink the rough shape with a faber castell brush pen because its waterproof and really black. then fiddle with color over that, then ink the rest/stipple with either a sharpie pen (ultra fine tip) or a micron. if i get paint over some black areas then i just re ink the whole thing. recently ive been trying not to sketch at all and just diving into ink then paint, sometimes i win some, other times i lose!

 Re: monster drawings
Bold Michael, bold!
First with the brush pen... I have to do everything in pencil first, followed by a lot of erasing / changing. Or pencil then ink with a lightbox.
Anyways, it's all very nice.

 Re: monster drawings
Such cool stuff being posted lately! Wish I was half as good as you guys! Been slowly working on this lately. Probably my favourite sculpt ever! And that's a hard one to say. Just the overall presence the subshine diver has on a shelf is overpowering!

 Re: monster drawings
Thanks guys, I feel like I need to invert the colors on Diggler, and add a white stroke. But I'll get it there.
