^^ Love that Bako. The unpainted eyes actually make it look so much more sinister.

 Re: Favorite shelf
mmmmmm!!! Lots of tasty things there. Can you please tell me a bit about your plexi-glass display cases? With my new cat kids around, it's mandatory that I have some form of protection, or else they'll get chewed. Did you build these yourself?

Hey Grace, glad to see you active on board again. Yes, they're custom made. The front panel slide to open.
Thanks, cyberann.

 Re: Favorite shelf
Those shelves are pretty rad. I take it plexi is pretty expensive?
I am about to put up some planks as shelves for now, at the new apt and cannot wait for the weekend to get them up.
My toys are suffocating in those shipping boxes. ;(

Love your shelf setup Choon, especially nice to see if from a different angle. Is that Lego tucked in there? Nice touch!

 Re: Favorite shelf
Thank you for the warm re-welcome Choon! Can you please tell me what type of adhesive you use to glue the panels together, and how does each case open and close? Do you use hinges? My local hardware stores sells the plexi panels--its expense depends on how thick the panels are. Another reason to have these enclosed, is, we have earthquakes here!

Wow, kurumonz, that is beautiful.
How can someone look at this and not smile? It operates like an upper!

 Re: Favorite shelf
Thanks for the compliments, folks!
Grace, they're glued together with chloroform which is the standard way of gluing acrylic I'm told. No hinges. The front panel slides open. The top and bottom pieces extend out and have grooves to hold the front panel. For this project I worked with 6mm thick acrylic panels. Anything thicker will be too heavy. Still, Its not the best way as the joints may separate in the long term.
@Jared- Haha. I went OC with Lego bicycles some time back.

 Re: Favorite shelf
That is exactly the kind of display I'd like to build (when I have a place, time, and money of course). It's got the perfect amount of visibility, while also preventing me from having to dust so much! And I totally love the modular design idea. for sure. I am definitely going to steal the idea of making some with a moveable front panel. Thanks for those great pics. One of the top collections on SB.

 Re: Favorite shelf
^Dust was a prime factor. Not that I'm dusting those outside of the shelves Just remember for modular layout like that you need them in different depth so they can slide clear over each other.

@Jared- Haha. I went OC with Lego bicycles some time back. Thank you Choon! I really have to look into this. Your system is not only efficient, but really very nice! Not to mention the toys too, of course ElvisFromHell, I absolutely adore your Tiger and the Chameleon (still looking for the standard and giant bumpy guy ), congratulations! Chris, have you really seen more Tigers? I've been looking, but haven't seen any for ages!

 Re: Favorite shelf
Thanks Mr. Humphreys - the standard size chameleon guy is especially elusive - much more so than the giant. It took me a long time to track him down. So with patience one will hopefully find its way into your collection too.

 Re: Favorite shelf
Oh he's well worth the wait! I missed out on three of them last year. They all popped up when I was low on funding, so I'm still hoping to adopt both the Standard and Giant this year. Your vintages are quite spiffy! Can I shamelessly beg you to please post a close up of your Tiger and Chameleon? Perhaps in the "Face Off" thread?
