Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
For what it is worth, I am siding [slightly] on the Hawks' side, but given that I am a Montreal fan, there really can't be any other choice. Tough, because I have really been impressed with the Bruins' performance over the last couple of series (especially Rask).

It is a bit off topic in terms of the finals timing, but I found this article yesterday I thought was just excellent. It gives a fascinating breakdown of the markets and recent trends. Sure, some if it is what everyone already knows, but it is great to have the numbers there to back that up. If only Bettman and his cronies would have people doing proper analyses on how to run the league. By all appearances their number one goal is profit, and yet they continue to support a failing league design.

Why Can’t Canada Win the Stanley Cup?

Wow another great game. Bruins were slow as shirt that first period but damn after that they were on. They just have to keep hitting and rushing the net.

I was out of mind mad that first period. Lucky we have Rask. Bruins were getting run out of the building, penned in their own zone. One thing we have going is the ability to bounce back. I know it sounds cliche but as soon as Lucic, Boychuck, and McQuaid start hitting good things happen. Lucic is really skating, hitting, and finally getting goals.

Very strange game. Chicago dominated the first period, & then Boston took over for the most part. Overtime should have been over quickly, but Crawford saved their ass multiple times before the game winner. Great series so far, very much looking forward to the rest of it.

Hawks can simply not get it past Rask. Bruins in beast mode with PK and puck possession, result = not a lot of chances for Chicago.

No shit, I hope they can keep it that way. RASK is pulling some TimThomas moves. Love it!

Arr, I can't take another three overtimes tonight.

I'd also like to know when this stupid crotch-grabbing 'Wooooh!' became so popular in American arenas. I've noticed it in a lot of game this season from the announcers when announcing the goals. Talk about some incredibly annoying shit.

Wow crazy game! Very exciting. No shame in the Bruins game, coming back from 3-1, 4-2, and 5-4 to force overtime. I thought they were the better overtime team as well. In a way it increases the chances of them winning it all on home ice which they deserve (last time it was in Vancouver and those fucking scrub ass fans suck). First things first though, they need to go steal one in Chicago Saturday night.

Good game tonight, few penalties. Hawks benefited by having legs early, but the Bruins sure made them fight for it in the end. I feel for Jagr being so snakebit in the playoffs as he is always in on key plays. Great goaltending by yet Rask again. Bring on Game 6.

I'm not one to whine, and yeah I agree the Hawks had legs early got some real nice bounces right to Kane's stick (Bruins should have picked him up) BUT the Blackhawks really got away with a lot of penalties tonight. Bergeron was taken away in an ambulance so....it's really not looking good for the B's. I swear every fucking time I'm able to watch the Bruins on TV they lose. When I watch on the computer they always win. Whoever made that stupid fucking Blackhawks goal song needs to die.

Regardless of outcome, one thing is assured I WILL NOT have to hear the fucking awful 'Chelsea Dagger' song tonight. On the plus my g/f is commanding the TV tonight so I'm watching online (bodes well).

LOL. Yeah just like the Hawks got away with murder the last game....I haven't seen anything not called on the B's. Hawks are just a whiny team, i.e. Shaw lying on the ice trying to draw a penalty.

Oh yeah, there is definitely garbage all around. How about that 'hand pass?' They are just trying to push it to 7 games. One thing is certain, 6 or 7, guys from both sides will be hurtin' when this is all over.

What hand pass? It was airborne! Seguin got it down, dropped, and passed (with stick)- goal Bruins. Totally legal. No garbage. Besides what would the Hawks do with a power play? Not score? LOL. Chara is looking like shit though. WTF happen to this guy?

No, you misunderstand. I am saying the call right before the Hawks' goal was garbage. I am not out to get your B's.

Tough break at the end there. Bruins gave it their all though. Man, Jagr looked crushed during the hand shaking.

Ah well, congrats to the Hawks. It was a great final for both teams. I feel like it will be another long off-season - but hopefully not as long as last time. Worst part of watching the Stanley Cup final: I have to see (and hear) Gary Bettman.

It coincides with the best part...the fans booing him.

Grats to the Hawks. Definitely a lucky goal to win it. Great series.

Oh man I CANNOT believe the Bruins gave up those two goals in the last minute. I thought for sure we're going to game 7. They started the game so well to but missed the net too many times. Oh well. They beat the Mapleleafs dramatically, beat the hated Rangers, and swept the hated Pens. I think they just ran out of gas with fatigue, injuries, and the relentless attack of the Hawks.

I've always hated Patrick Kane now I hate the Blackhawks.

Can't wait to hear the injury report, and yeah we can all agree this sucks waiting till October for the new season!

In a way I'm glad it's over! Planning my life around hockey games, and then practically having an aneurysm every game was taking a mental toll. October sounds like a lifetime away with the summer in full effect :) I'll be ready for it then.

EDIT: So apparently Bergeron played with broken ribs, torn cartilege, and a separated shoulder in that last game. Rumor has it Chara also broke something. Not making excuses, just damn, how the hell do these guys play with that much shit not working and in that much pain?

Great serie ! I did not take sides but I’ll say it could not have ended in a better way !
And I’m glad it’s over, I can’t stand watching hockey in summer time.
