That being said, I think someone said this Bullet Belt guy is Chinese vinyl. Do with that what you will.

Thanks for merging them over! Chinese vinyl huh? My interest just dropped significantly :(

That paint job is really nice. Has an undead elephant look to it. I really NEED that mini though!

Stupid question time and though I realize it's a stupid question I also spent at least a couple hours using the search function here and trying to find answers to it before I thought of actually asking it openly.

Is there a specific reason chinese vinyl is frowned upon? I have seen how there are some mass market toys made in china that are really poorly done but my greasebat is a thing of beauty and I can't see or feel any difference between it and my japanese stuff. Or maybe I am totally mistaken and the bat is japanese? I read here that some people say the japanese stuff is made by vinyl artists rather then vinyl factory workers but isn't it possible there are people in china doing things with as much care and attention to detail as the people in japan?

Again I am asking, not trying to come off as any kind of authority at all because I truly am not. Just a guy looking for information from people who know tons more then I do about all this stuff.

For me it's the work and time put into it. Without researching, I feel like Japanese vinyl has a artisan/ professional aspect, that the Chinese factories lack.

And their business ethics with cheap labor and especially child labor. I frown on this type of business.

And talk about knock offs and bootlegs.... These guys have ruined the tattoo machine market. Please don't get me started on this

I'd rather spend 10 times the amount, know love, attention to detail, and the quality of vinyl poured are enough. Let alone the crappy business standards and ethics regarding child labor.

Not to mention, I'm going to go to where ever my toy is being made.
Much rather be going to Japan.
That's my view.

As for this baller ass toy!!!! Freaking titts!!!! Love it!!
Skinner is the man!!!

I want the minis that PK sculpted.... And now this!!!
Skinner is a mad man.... Looks like he's a busy dude:)
Good thing too. I love his work

Skin man himself said that these are being made in the same factory as KAWS...

Chinese vinyl is a much lower grade than that used in sofubi. Generally Chinese vinyl is melted down from pelletized vinyl pieces and becomes the hard, unyielding crap KR toys are made of. This is also why you don't see clear vinyl coming out of China, it would look awful. Japan sofubi production uses high quality liquid vinyl allowing for the softer, pliant and sometimes clear tots we are used to over here. This is all what I have been told though, so feel free to correct any mistakes.

Waterbear... Greasebat is made in Japan.

My Unbox toys are made in China, at a small factory, no child labor, super safe paints etc. The producer explained it all to me once, how what he uses and what is usually used in Japan is very similar... maybe he'll pipe in here and explain it better.

there's also the finish of the mold surface that determines the matte/gloss of the final feel of the product. slush-casting vs roto-casting produce different results. the chemical composition of the vinyl itself and amount of plasticizer are huge factors as well. where's scott when you need him? i wish all of his science posts were archived and still available.

for the sake of lower cost, chinese factories may opt for rougher molds and roto-casting, plus "cheaper" (or just different) vinyl.

Thanks for explaining it to me. For some stupid reason I had my Stee-Gar and Greasebat confused. Both feel very similar to me and by that I mean really nice but again I am not educated on the topic at all. Almost my entire collection has been obtained through trades.

Looking now pretty much all of my Ultraman stuff is from china but those are 6 inch soft vinyl figures that cost me 10 bucks a pop at the most and always seem easy to find. They do feel pretty damn cheap compared to the bat and stee-gar and my dream rocket stuff but I still like them.

Thanks for all the answers everyone has shared. Appreciate the knowledge.

Yeah I just did a bit of a read....

These are being made on the same factory as the ones KAWS uses. As a few have pointed out already

I'm not certain if his toys have been copied or bootlegged. That would be my main concern.

I'm sure Skinners had a his hands on how these turn out. I'm sure these will be great.

When it comes to collecting, I collect what the artist I enjoy, what he or she puts out. Regardless of where it's made.

I'm happy he found someone that could pull off his envision of these. I think they look great.
I love the mini figure.

Will be wanting one of these.

I like the packaging too. Will be nice to keep in the box this way. The plastic is easy to see through

I wonder how many other places are out there like this? Cool discussion for sure. Skinner rules, hopefully he'll put out something up to snuff!

I like the Bullet Belt guy. I think the colors are pretty good on this first release. One thing that I like is it was said on Twitter that everyone who places and order for a Bullet Belt will get one. So it doesn't sound like this release will be hard to get for anyone that wants one. I've been wanting one of these since I saw the first unpainted test shot and I like it even more now that it has been painted. Plus it is nearly 12 inches tall, which is a pretty good chunk of vinyl. I just hope the final in-hand product is as good looking as the one in the picture.

Does anyone know if there are any points of articulation? It doesn't look like it, but it is hard to tell if the head moves or not.

Yeah all of my toys (MW) are made in Japan!

The mini bullet belt is a soft eraser type Keshi figure, i will have one in a day or so! Should be pretty cool.

I hope that is the case. It isn't super important, but I like to be able to have a little poseability with my figures.
