I love the fact that Spectreman looks confused. Very nice line up of boots!

Really love that Giant Baragon. Looks like they tried to copy the Bullmark Giant.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
Had to quote this for the next page. GREAT group you got there. I just picked up a blow molded goji also. Mines no where near as nice though. Did you get that one bagged? All the ones I see have tons of wear. Id love to find that baragon as well. Mark K wrote: Been meaning to post these boots for a while. The orange one is more likely a pachi but it reminds me of Baragon and looks good w/ the giant Goji.

Love it Don! I don't think I saw that Triple Fighter before, he looks great. What is the guy next to him, I can't quite make it out or place him, some weird version of the animated Ultraman?

 Re: Bootleg Thread
These are great Mark. I have always loved those giant bootlegs. The godzilla figure is actually really well done. I have seen at least three different colorways on him, and two on the Baragon. The Baragon is most commonly that orange with green spray, but there is a dark reddish-brown version as well that matches the color of the Godzilla plastic. The standard size Godzilla is a boot of the plamodel, and the blue is the hardest color to find. There are red unpainted, red painted eyes only, red with green spray and most commonly red with blue spray. I was once told that a typical bootleg silver might exist, but I have never seen it. I haven't seen any variations on the Spectreman, but I have never looked really hard either. Mark K wrote: Been meaning to post these boots for a while. You know I dig them! Hard to say my favorite amongst the bunch- I'd probably go with that Ninja Arashi. They look almost like finger puppets, are they?

 Re: Bootleg Thread
Those look fantastic, though truth be told, part of me cringes to see the vintage set opened. Not that I never did such a thing during my Star Wars heyday.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
Thanks, yeah they are pencil toppers as Don said. Only one of them has the pencil hole cut in though...so much for quality control haha. They were in a dingy bag with a generic header, way nicer opened.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
I'm probably in the minority again (which is fine), but I can't agree with that when it comes to vintage figures, unless the bag is really thrashed or punctured. (This also went for the intrepid few who opened vintage carded SW figures back in the day.) There are plenty of open figures out there to enjoy in their unbagged glory.

I think everyone's a little different in this case. Me, I'd simply never even attempt to buy a bagged vintage figure (unless it's a super-common mini or something) because I know I'd wanna open it. So why pay the premium for a bagged toy when you're just going to open it and thus devalue it? Just buy a loose one like you said! Of course, if you're absolutely obsessed with the character/toy and want an *absolutely* minty specimen to play with, I can see someone paying that premium for the bagged figure, and then opening it to enjoy. At the end of the day, if you pay for, it's yours. Open it. Freeze it for a millennium. Back over it with a truck.

Yeah in the SW circles this sort of thing pretty much went round and round in the same way. Getting back on track.... Not gonna open em... Na. Ga. D'it.

This is me sort of, except for the truck backing over the toy AND actually WANTING to pay premium prices. No doubt when I'm on the hunt I'm going to look for the best shape figure I can find. If it happens to be bagged- well I just hope it slips under the radar. I see what andy's saying though. I do give that moment of pause whenever I receive a vintage toy bagged. Usually I'll take a pic and cut open the bag carefully, but the kid in me really wants to get that sucker out and next to his buddies.

Here are two bootlegs I have. Keiji K and Tiger7 I've seen others on this thread that I'd like as well, but I enjoy them.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
I was always be in a quandary about whether or not to remove a figure from its bag. I have no problems with it now. I just carefully remove the staples (vintage staples ) put them and the header card into the bag and store it. Or if the header card is cool I use it in my display... OH! yes keeping in topic I do this with my bootlegs...just won a kikaida bootleg in a bag, will probably take it out..header card is kind of generic and boring.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
That is a great Robot Detective K figure. I will have to track that one down at some point too. Collecting bootlegs, with the number and variety of them out there, never gets old. Definitely one of the best parts of the vintage hobby.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
Picked this up at an antique mall today (for 70 cents!). I'm not familiar with the character if anyone knows... looks like he borrowed Evel Knievel's cape. Love the completely random header with little fuzzy animals on it.

 Re: Bootleg Thread
Cool find, just goes to show you never know what you might turn up when you hunt around. That guy is Kagestar by the way (カゲスター), another of the later 70s tokusatsu hero shows from Toei. I guess his design was inspired by Evel Knievel, and the show was (at first) more oriented like an American style super hero genre fighting costumed criminals.

It says JAPAN on the foot, was thinking it could be a Popy but the weird header makes me think bootleg. Any idea?
