 Re: Stoner/Doom
Just had to confirm/rub it in that Om was indeed an excellent show! I was surprised at how well they recreated their songs in a live setting. And they had the sound dialed in so that it was crisp, absolutely clear, but still brutally loud. It and Ghost's show last year are two of the best shows I've been to in a loooong time. Really made me want to get a lot better at playing bass. The only thing that was kinda awkward was that it seemed like their 3rd musician may not have known how to definitively end some of the songs and so the crowd wasn't sure if the song was over or if they were just pausing before launching back into it. In one case there was zero crowd reaction between one song and another, and it was spotty after a few others. Because of that I think Om just said "fuck it" and ended the show with no encore. But aside from that, when they were playing it was soooooooo good!

 Re: Stoner/Doom
recent bandcamp discovery http://www.alkahestnyc.commaybe we should start a bandcamp discovery thread, it's like falling into a rabbit hole of gnarly new tunes. also great app called bandcamper for iphone that lets you stream anything on bandcamp through your phone! Makes for a quick solution when you don't have your ipod around. also enslaved, pallbearer, royal thunder, ancient vvisdom anyone going?

 Re: Stoner/Doom
What the hell's going on here, I thought we talked about Ghost in the black metal thread. It is awesome though. I don't care how overdone the 60s/70s talk show video set is. And Ghost BC? Oy. I hate shit like that. Whatever. It's one of those things where I just can't see anyone actually saying that outloud seriously unless they're being paid to or they're suckers.

Thanks for posting that NT! Great stuff! Went on to do some of my own venturing on bandcamp, not sure if this has been posted here before. Seems like some cool psych-stoner stuff from Australia. http://dreamtime.bandcamp.com/album/dreamtime-sun-lp

 Re: Stoner/Doom
I like that Sons of Hun nice find, thanks! Anyone interested in getting the colored vinyl version of the Uncle Acid 7" domestic, Last Rights has them. There's an option to select black or colored vinyl, but I don't think you get a choice of which color you get. I don't care, both versions sound cool to me. I've ordered from them before, they've always been cool and easy to deal with. http://lastrightsrecords.storenvy.com/p ... yl-pre-ord

I was bummed because they're opening tonight at the venue I just saw Graveyard and Red Fang at - and swore I'd never go back to, except to see Ghost in April. But then I just found that they're headlining at a bar just down the street from me in a couple weeks! Really looking forward to it - small little place no bigger than my living room & dining room!

Has anyone here heard Beastwars? They're a sludgy metal band from New Zealand. Heavy as hell riffs! I've seen them a couple of times and they don't disappoint! If you're into Kyuss, Mastodon, or just anything heavy and awesome check them out! New albums out soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtOqeCQUN5E

And their album had a killer gatefold too. Lately all I want to do is Boogie Endlessly. Endless Boogie - Long Island. So groovin.

bansheebot wrote: Ape Machine - War to Head got plenty of plays by me last year. Great album but god damn do I hate that band name. Ha ha! Yeah... Saw them last night with Bison, Bison and Sons of Huns. Great show! Ape Machine's drummer is a machine. They just kicked off a tour - so if anyone is at all interested and they're coming through your town I recommend checking them out.

Gaytheist - Pentagrams are Super! http://gaytheist.bandcamp.com/album/pen ... -are-superNot stoner/doom, but this seems to be the most active thread for sharing "hard rocking" album streams. Didn't someone suggest making a bandcamp thread? Maybe I'll start one...
