Post Re: I heart Breaking Bad
i've got a question about the ending that's been on my mind . . . . i must of missed some detail or other.
I haven't had a chance to watch the episode again yet.

How did the Police get there so quickly at the very end?
I thought it all went down at some 'secret' hideout in the middle of nowhere?
How would anyone hear the gunfire?

Maybe Walt called them before everything went down...it was the endgame after all. Why not?

I'm sure the compound cant have been that secretive or far from civilization. Plus M60's are pretty loud. 8)

You're probably right . . . i just assumed it was really remote, like the place where Walt buried his money.

I'm fairly certain that the compound was near my Dads place. I think the whole thing is that they just stayed quiet.. Hiding in plain sight. To be fair it was in a fairly bad part of town. Or I'm just a loony.

When and how did Walt slip the poison to Lydia?
Before Lydia and Opie arrived, Walt slipped the ricin into the packet of Stevia that she used in the diner scene. It was implied then, but Walt mentions it to her directly in the phone call to hers that he intercepts at the end.

Walt mentioned to Skyler that the police would be coming to him, so the phone call before hand is as good a theory as any, methinks.

I also assumed Lydia called the cops.

My only "eh" situation was Walt driving from New Hampshire to New Mexico in the same car that all the Feds and cops are after because he's like the most wanted man in the US. Even sticking to back roads. Meh, i doubt it. I feel like he should have swapped cars or plates or SOMETHING. Whatever.

Explain what you mean :? . I don't think they knew that was the car that he was in..? Due to that first part with the police bypassing the car.

There was a part where Marie says to Skylar something like "They found that stolen car from New Hampshire they suspected was Walts in a Denny's parking lot" or something. SO someone in New Hampshire reported a stolen car (after the cops were sent looking there for a guy who called in saying he was Walter White one of the most wanted men in the country.) I think that'd be a "nation wide keep your eyes open manhunt" style deal.

The police bypassed it in the begining because it wasn't stolen then. Walt was in the act of stealing it. In New Hampshire.

'Lac trunk gun massacre was by far the best scene that's ever been on any tv anywhere ever. ever.
I'm sad though, it's like I lost a friend. it's sad that that world is over forever. I'm too attached to tv lol.
oh well at least there's still Hell on Wheels finale this weekend.

Meh. I guess it was alright, but "best show ever"..?!? Gimme a fucking break. Gilligan's petty and inconsequential morality has got nothing on "The Wire" or even "The Shield". FFS, after supposedly wanting to make the audience question their degree of identification with Walt he couldn't even resist giving him a "cool" exit. How very ambiguous.

And as for plotholes: A meth kingpin, infamous across the nation and beyond, returns to his former residence after having gone undercover for a while, meets his former neighbor in the process who immediately alerts the authorities, yet the DEA/whatever law enforcement agencies should be involved at this point fail to put his wife's new house under surveillance even despite fake threats from sympathizers posing as WW to "blow up city hall"..?!? :?

I think you're missing the point of story telling rather than actual "real world" accuracies. I like the characters, regardless of how plausible or realistic this was, that's why I watched it.

Well the best show ever was Futurama, but I liked Breaking Bad more than the Shield or The Wire and I'm aware that it's just my taste on that. No points to argue, no statements, I just enjoyed it more overall.

Now on to my second favorite currently running show, Boardwalk Empire.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it and I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but I also appreciate a certain level of logical consistency within a story. That whole scene just felt like extremely lazy/rushed/contrived writing to me, particularly because it was established that Walt is on the run from a nation-wide manhunt (arguably to build suspense), only to have him suddenly waltz into Skyler's kitchen like it's nothing.

Yeah, that part bothered me too. Even if he used the back or side entrance or something, how could he not be spotted? And it's not like he knew the location very well, since Skylar moved to a new place, right?

Like Jessie said, he's smarter and LUCKIER than you, he's the devil.

I don't know who Walt was praying to at the beginning of the episode, but I'm happy to believe what ever super natural power granted him his wishes, helped him carry them out.
