$190,000 x 3 = $570,000

Over halfway to a billion if there are three runs of 1000.

But which is it? Are the other colourways more limited (as Kozik said) or are they the same runs of 1000 each?

:?:

i think you mean half a million.. that's not that much gross IMO

wonder how much of that kaws himself gets to pocket, seems like he could easily make the equivalent selling a few originals... (i'm just talking out of my ass again)

I may be way off base but I kinda sense that the toys are more just a 'hobby' or something that he get's a kick outta doing (like the photography gig) . . . one decent size canvas and like you's say he'd make more profit . . . unless the royalties from Medicom make it real worthwhile :?

A pretty nice chunk is my guess. I think Kaws figures retail for roughly twice what comparable figures retail for. One and a half times at least.

The Dissected Companion is more detailed and has more colors than past Kaws releases. Maybe it costs more to produce. I don't know. Look at the Pushead Companions though. Kaws and Medicom must have made way more profit on them than, let's say, Kozik and Kidrobot did on the big labbits. I paid $125 for my black Pushead Companion. I don't regret it, but I know that $125 is a ridiculous amount of money to pay for a hunk of black plastic.

Not as bad as the $800 I spent to get my bronze companion. Does it cost that much more for bronze colored plastic? Anyhow, I'm not complaining. I'm sure Pushead starved for awhile before he started making the cash. Besides, our world is supply and demand. I look at all the stuff I have and it must be worth a lot of money. I couldn't imagine selling my stuff though (although I do sell stuff I have extra copies of just so I can go out and buy more stuff). If only my wife knew how much I'm into my collection. Can anyone walk me through posting some pictures on here? I'd like to post some of my collection.

you can use xs.to or imageshack.

Its my understanding that Kaws uses medicom as a maufacturer so he is ostensibly making 90.00-120.00 per toy profit.

his model is perfect and he is realizing probably a 500,00-750,00 yealry profit from toy sales alone. add in clothing royalties and fine art sales and I wouldnt be surprised if he isnt making a good million a year after taxes.

yup. and he also said that Kaws gets 300 out of the 1000 for his personal stash. Isn't that alot for an artist to keep?

nobody has mentioned that these are runs of 1000 and cost a lot more a retail than the 5yl. So now I have.

The 5YL GID's were the exact same price, $180. And for the 5YL sculpt they made it into 5 colorways as opposed to three for the Dissected....so the total numbers come out pretty close.

I still have the original e-mail from KAWSONE......

"Hello,
We will be receiving the Blue Glow in the Dark Companions early next week.
We are now accepting payments for this item via Paypal. (www.paypal.com)
We ask that you make your payment within 7 days of this e-mail date. If
we have not received your payment by Nov. 14th, we will assume that you are
not interested in the item(s) you have reserved. Please send payment for
only the piece(s) you originally reserved. This means:
IF YOU ONLY RESERVED 1 PIECE, DO NOT TRY TO PURCHASE 2 PIECES BECAUSE WE
ONLY HAVE ENOUGH PRODUCT TO FULFILL THE PIECES RESERVED AND WE WILL NOT
PROCESS YOUR ORDER FOR 2 PIECES.

The price per piece is $180 + shipping. If you ordered 2 pieces, that
would be $360 + shipping. Please add the appropriate shipping charge(as
shown below) based on your location. All orders with the incorrect
shipping charge added will not be processed.
Due to the size of the item, higher dimensionalized shipping rates apply."

You were probably thinking of the first three 5YL (brown, gray, black). Those were $140.
