 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Quick pic of a big box that came today...... Need to make a loin cloth for Amazon Rider So glad I finally tracked down that Ultraseven mini (hadn't seen this one in over a year) & Cave Ruler. Finally found that Marusan x Hobidas reissue of the red Ultraman. So much better than the M1 version. Never realized just how big that Giant Mirrorman is!

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Wow Lixx, I think you are pushing the limits now - that is just too much goodness for one shipping box! A lot of great heroes (and villain, depending on your allegiance) there. The Mirrormen are definitely really cool, but you sure got a mass lot of amazing Popy-scale guys there. Some that I prize and few others I am hunting too. I look forward to more pics of these guys in the clear, helmeted, and other respective threads.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
The Popy Barom One is really weird. I think the left leg actually shrunk over the years or it was just poorly made. One leg is definitely longer than the other. Oh well he's got a lean but stands. Will post more pics eventually. In my excitement of making them actually fit on my shelves, I forgot to snap some individuals- so the red Ultraman, Ultra Ace etc are already shelved. It's like friggin' dominos!

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
I am not sure it is from warping, or just a slight lack of quality control when the vinyl was being pulled. I have seen this a few times on other figures, of different sizes too, but it certainly isn't a common occurence on the licensed guys in my experience. Still, as you said, he looks amazing, and I can't believe how bright the colours are and how clear he still is. A really great buy.
I am really jealous of the red Ultra. While he may not be vintage, he belongs here as much as anywhere. I tried to get one myself, and finally found a place that had them for sale, but couldn't get the international purchase to align. Still hurts.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Barom One is super clear, definitely happy about that. Red Ultraman is the Type 1 version, seen on the right here (no hole in ear): viewtopic.php?f=3&t=42947I'm glad I scored Type 1. I like the bright red color, Type 2 seems more muted. Just spent literally the whole afternoon sweating my ass off (it's really humid here) and rearranging. Can't believe I still have some pockets of space! My whole room smells like a musty japanese basement though. Ahhh the new old vinyl smell...

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
I picked up a type two several months ago and it's definitely one of my favorites. I agree with the color. Compared to your photos it doesn't seem as red in hue but it's still excellent. I enjoy the proportion size of the head on type 2.
As for the barom leg thing, I have the same problem with my bullmark Leo. Never really understood how one leg could get so much longer than the other. Anyways, great finds .

I'd love to see a pic of Type 2. Yeah the Barom 1 leg thing is weird. I mean it could have always been like that but the vinyl on the shorter leg looks bubbly and very milky compared with the rest of the toy. So I'm thinking more it might have been exposed to other chemicals before or after packaging. When I give it a slight tug it does seem to stretch back out temporarily. It's not that bad, I just notice this things. It is however the second time I've noticed something like this from a packaged vintage toy. The other being the weird discoloration of this bootleg Fireman's arm from holding up his clear helmet: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=44912&hilit=firemanThat old school clear vinyl must be lethal!

Nice haul, Lixx. I've really been wanting to add a nice vintage Ultra Ace to my collection.

I had been watching this particular Bullmark version for awhile, seeing auctions go for all kinds of prices and never bidding because they went to high (IMO). So many have been showing up lately it seems. I got this guy for only 13500 so if you don't feel compelled to go for anything getting into that 30000 yen range nonsense (not that you would but ...you know what I mean).

Don't want to start going too far down the vintage rabbit hole (although it's probably too late for that) and get going on another line of characters however, I just love the Cave Ruler and his bright red head contrasting with his black suit.. Thought I had a line on a standard version but it didn't pan out over the summer (Mandarake never updates stock!). I'd love to see someone post a pic of the Giant version. ElvisfromHell is the only one around here that I know has one!

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Robomaru got a big new friend today in the mail- Roboy! made by the Kawada company. not vinyl, it's all made out of plastic. he's got a spinning head/eye piece, spinning hypno-disc, wheels on his back and stretchy arms. the clear dome looks a lot more clear in person.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Been waiting for a GR2 for a long while now...even though he's beat up and is missing paint I'm still happy - my Giant Robot has someone's ass to kick now. That Kikaida bootleg has that header card (which I don't think is the most interesting header card out there) I mentioned a while ago...anyone know what "series" it is? That little guy dressed up in Gatchaman gear is the back of a carded....those feather darts Mark flings Popy toy...I just like that image...had to get it. The Tiger Mark Shampoo bottle still has the stinky perfumed shampoo in it...probably cost me $20 in shipping. Oh yeah and more pendants...love pendants!

Like that giant blue robot, who is he again? Blow mold? I saw that bagged Kikaida on YJA. All I know is it's a bootleg series. That made numerous toys, including the dogface (mask and no mask) Devilman.

Here's the Giant Robot and GR2 side by side...so height-wise the The Giant Robot is as tall as a Masudaya talker (can't find my tape measure)- GR2 a smidge shorter I now see. and the darts are there...I'd like to really throw them at my boss' head. Yeah I spent a bit on those guys...but I figured I would have spent more or the same hunting each one down one by one...so I went for it. - just on the look out for one or two more. Pendants? About 20? I'll put up a picture soon, just have to organize those shelves.

Takemi Blue Earth from Tekkaman. Shown with Nakajima die cast. Always a grail since I was a kid and saw them in catalogues. The big one is complete. Surprisingly affordable.
