 Montreal meet up?
This Burlingtonian is thinking it might be a good idea to try a North-of-the-border summit/tradefest/meet-up/what-have-you. What say you, people- interested? If so, what would work for your schedules? I could do mid-to-late July, early August or mid-October.

 Re: Montreal meet up?
Bah, who would want to meet you?! I am definitely down for a get-together with the MASK crew anytime. You should check out some of the festivals that are on during the summer if you don't have a specific date in mind. Jazz Fest is always enjoyable for visitors. But really, Montreal is great all summer long. I recommend making a trip to Ottawa and Quebec too if you can swing it; both are just short drives and well worth it. I trust you will not be bringing the full 'regalia' though.....

 Re: Montreal meet up?
You expect me to meet up with a group called MASK not in costume? Ah, I shoulda known something had been organized on here in the past... if only this board had a "Search" featu- Good thinkin', Steve- I will check the schedule of summertime doings up there, and maybe we could make it coincide with something fun going on in the town. My summer is filling right the hell up with weddings and child birthday parties and weddings already... but maybe I can get away during one of the stretches listed above for an afternoon/evening and head up!

 Re: Montreal meet up?
Oooh, and I forgot to mention the Fantasia Film Festival, which is my favourite summer event - but really that can take some serious time and commitment, as I have been known to watch several movies in a day. If you want to catch a genre or Japanese film though on the big screen, it can't be beat. Loads more to do in the city of course. I am sure some others can chime in with their own recommendations. Sometimes the best days involve just spending an afternoon enjoying a cool drink on a terrasse in the sun. I think this list hits the major ones, and has links and dates for each of them you can get more info at. You can see, there is a pretty wide variety.

Let me know when that happens, I'll try and go east as well. After all, I'm on parental leave for nine months! (this shall be my mantra for the next nine months)

 Re: Montreal meet up?
After looking at the summer-into-September schedule and chatting with my wife last night, I'm now thinking mid-October will be best for me, as well (and this is good, as cooler weather is better for Garamike, as well ). So, maybe I started this thread a little too early... but it's good to get the wheels turning, I guess! I will certainly keep it in mind and check back in here with you fellows in late August or so. Psyched that we already seem to have a good crew on board for it, though!

at the very least, another breakfast in northampton or maybe waterbury if we get to VT. Noted, Ed! Maybe we could meet in the Burlington area and head up together. Also, yes, keep me posted if you should come to VT any time soon! Even if you're not coming all the way up to where I am, a trip to Waterbury for breakfast would be do-able for me!

 Re: Montreal meet up?
YES please! I'll be damned if I go up to your lovely metro area and don't have some fabulous eats of a sort I can't get (at least, not done well*) around here! I'm glad this is being kept on the radar... *Not to disparage my fair burgh... but... y'know... Burlington's not a real city...

 Re: Montreal meet up?
So... I'm there briefly on the 26th, and then maybe one day about a week later (if we find a place to crash). Eat / meet there?

 Re: Montreal meet up?
Hey, did you guys end up having a get-together? I am back in town for my defense, but probably all too briefly.
I know Moshi is coming over this winter, but what about you southron neighbours, is anyone still making the journey to la belle province ?

 Re: Montreal meet up?
Neighbor 'brainers to the North... I feel sorry for starting this thread and letting it languish! Been hit hard by health issues large and small and a house move that's sort still in process... (the boxes... THE BOXES....). As far as my involvement, I still really want to pay a visit, but obviously it ain't happenin' in October. I also wanted to have at least a couple of handpaints to bring up for a possible swappin' party, but I don't know when I'll get to that, either. So... nebulous fro me at best, at the moment. I will stick my head up here as soon as I can when I know of a time I might be able to get up there!
