Initially I thought they would be $5-600. $800 is a lot but I am still tempted. I have the head he painted hanging in my place. Staring back at me daily. I know the details that these will have when you see them in person. They are nuts.

With such a huge toy you only need 1 or 2, why not make it the best 1 you can get.

Soooooo $800 is a rip off? Do you have any idea how long it takes him to paint those eyes?
On top of the fact that we are talking about the most influential American artist to the Japanese sofubi scene!

Amen. ;)

Ya know, for those of us outside of the $800 bracket who would like a painted Rotten Rex besides painting one ourselves, there is another option that hasn't been suggested yet, and that''s Artist Commissions.

This is actually the route I took, purchasing a blank @ $125, and then seeking out an artist I like for commission. Being that he'll most likely be my only Rotten Rex, this way I am getting a paint job that I'd like the Best anyway + even though the artist's fees are fair, I am able to save a few hundred dollars... For those interested, but not sure what you'd like to have done, there is the upcoming Rex head exhibition that will give you some ideas of artists & styles.

Understand that I am absolutely NOT suggesting Groman's work @ $800 is not worth it, but rather another means for "professional" paint jobs for Rex lovers who either have wallets that hold closer to $125 than $800 or just prefer a different painting style. I fall into both categories.

If you can afford an original @ $800, & you really want a Rotten Rex done head-to-nub by James Groman, & you decide to purchase one - I seriously doubt you'll regret it!

* Of course, if you plan to have one painted, I recommend getting a blank right away. I'm not sure how long they'll still be available since they've been up for a few weeks already and are now up for sale @ Dcon.

I was really tempted, but $800 was a bit up there for me personally, but they were even more badass in person than the photos

I wouldn't be able to swing that either but they're cool as hell. I gotta get one of these some day. The belly skulls rule.

haha I could of bought one if I wanted one, but just like everyone else I live on a budget. And $800 for this was not in my budget. If it was $400-500 I would have certainly picked one up. I thought $250 for the marbled vinyl was more than fair.

Also I am more of a classic spray fan, then an almost hobby or model kit technique, but again the paint job was beautiful

Heres some shots of the awesome Rotten Rex 1/1 and marbles. It was great to meet James and talk about his upcoming endeavors. Like previously said, the paint on each one of his 1offs were incredible, had to see them in person.

^ 1 of the green versions was still sitting there on Sunday when I left around 4. I'm not sure if it was sold and someone was picking it up at the end or if it was still available. Hopefully it was available for those who couldn't make it to dcon and want 1.

I'm sure there will be plenty of more affordable releases for everyone in the future. I can't wait to see them all.

These toys were massive by the way. Really impressive to see. I thought they were going to be smaller but I think it was a good call to not include the tail.

The last green wasn't purchased. I'm sure it'll sell at the drop of a hat online, though. Getting to hang out with James Groman at the booth was super rad. Unbelievably nice man, incredibly humble and very appreciative. It was really interesting to me that he dry brushed all four HP's. The level of detail was amazing, as is the general size and appearance of the figure himself. The marble pours were really fun, too.

THIS. Was truly an honor and pleasure to meet and talk with Mr. Groman. You will not meet a nicer and more down-to-earth guy...
