Easier than expected The Bemular with the gold and blue metal spray has Bwana's initials on the feet. Maybe because he took more time with it (additional sprays?) *edit: grasshutcorp.com has a picture of the figures with metal spray (buta01special.jpg)* My lights are washing out the matte neon color effect on the vinyl. The flat neon pink on shiny pink vinyl really stands out.

Re: New Butanohana
I know I keep saying I'm going to have to try and find the new Butanohana, but for the most part they've been sculpts I already have in a different color and eventually I'm like "Ehhh too much effort to find!" I might really need to get that Ikarus though! What a sculpt/color combo:

Re: New Butanohana
This kind of surprises me, but I'm not in love with the new Icarus! Maybe it's just the vinyl base - I'd prefer the character in a rich green or blue, like in the proto pic: Still, probably not going to stop me from hunting him.

^Agreed! The colors are great; so warm and friendly with a hint of storybook psychedelia. I'll try to restrain myself to just a one.

Re: New Butanohana
So the new pic shows King Joe with only a dark ring in the eye (as opposed to a black pupil). I have to say that I prefer this; what a Darling!

The Mysteries of the G... revealed!** Yes, I am a dork.Back in January, we had a little bit of chat about who the new G-series characters might be modeled after: Ultra999 wrote: not knowing what our favorite toy maker looks like, i ask this question: are the new spacemen heads self-portraitures? or is it based on the face of a character from a storybook not yet posted here? We soon learned to look to public officials for our answers... Spamper wrote: The g units (the red spaceman) released at the SF61 have the head of the Japanese politicians Abe and Noda and they were created by Butanohana for the Japanese general election of the last month. Also, he first uploaded their pic on the butablog on the Election Day. ...but that's as far as it went, at least in the threads. In case anyone is still curious, these two blog entries from March make a fine case for the potential identities of the rest of the crew: http://esmusssein.hatenablog.com/entry/ ... /23/210925http://esmusssein.hatenablog.com/entry/ ... /26/000602Now if only I could find series 1 so I can see for myself!

Re: New Butanohana
Got these today, and while the Icarus is as expected, the Joe is soft squishy rubber. Unprecedented for Butanohana? I expect it adds friction, and helps him balance some, but not very much...

Re: New Butanohana
^^awesome! sometimes vinyls are just more squishy for some reason. not a first for buta though. the gebagoro is also very squishy.

I expect it adds friction, and helps him balance some, but not very much... Interesting, I have the gray version on hard vinyl and it would tip over with the slightest nudge due to the pieces not fitting snuggly together and it being top heavy. Would like to know how much more sturdy the red version is comparably.

Re: New Butanohana
^ I don't have a full set in hard vinyl to compare with. But this is probably a bit sturdier as the pieces even stick together. Not sure how I feel about it though; the look of rubber is just so different from the usual stuff.
