Wow this is disgusting! I would advise you to contact the seller and ask if they are willing to do local pickup, then purchase the item and be waiting at the meeting place with police. I'm willing to bet you will get some answers then! Even though this seller may not know these are stolen, it would be pretty difficult to explain the "found in a storage locker" comment and at least you could get some leads! I wish you the best with this situation!

Yeah, that line is what really gets me too. Who the fuck do these people think they are? I know you could get ebay to pull the auction, but then we might lose recourse/tracking for the listing and seller. As an aside, blatantly short ebay descriptions are always a warning sign in my experience. Good luck Scott! I'll send my payment to this seller in the form of a steamy pile.

Just hearing about this. This is terrible. I think in a case like this one, recovering part of it is really no solace. Getting the bastard would be a good start. Do you have any updates on your case, Scott?

Honestly, who could just "find" items like these and actually know:
1) They're Thrashmen;
2) They're by Gargamel;
3) They're custom painted.
Ours is a micro subculture. The general public doesn't jusy know these things.

so long story short....
mikelikebike alerted me to this douche on thursday. he contacted and asked if theyd do local pick up. he sent mike his name and number (which i ironically had from a couple weeks prior). friday am i called the detective and we were set to go over friday night until miley cyrus got her STD infested house broken into so my detective got stuck there friday night.
today i met the detective at 3 and me and 2 car loads of cops went to the sellers house. the seller turned out to be some schmuck kid and his father who bought the shit from the same tweakers that broke into my unit and have been breaking into houses and other storage lockers to fuel their meth habit.
i got my shit back and the detectives are on their way back to the meth houses.

When i was a kid, my dad used to have a snap-on tool route, 111K in tools on the truck alone. We had about 40k stolen one night.. Horrible experience, not to mention snap on or the insurance company not really helping us.. Not the same situation, but the gutted feeling is the same..
