That is actually a guy from the Gekko Kamen series. You can see him in the full lineup from VV's collection here (and a bit more in the dedicated thread here).

I believe his name is Iron Mask (鉄仮面), and he was a character from the later, animated iteration of Moonlight Mask - The One Who Loves Justice.

I've seen other Wolfboy Ken auctions go for big money, but these two, especially the second one, was surprising.

Damn, both of those are crazy. I had no idea, especially that second one, would end anywhere near that amount.

Here was one that I was waiting for the end to come for a while now, for interest's sake. A good chunk of hard to find or just really nice figures included, but boy, shelling out all that money in one go is definitely something. Nine figures in all, featuring a giant U7 and several nice removable mask figures. Still ended fairly high IMO, but I think a major part of that change can be attributed to the Devilman - always popular and expensive. Unfortunately the seller pulled the image from the auction down right after the listing ended (boy, I hate it when they do that, but anyways). If someone has the link or image saved, let me know, and I will update this with a better pic. EDIT: found a link to the original source now.

Close to 10,000 each seems to be the going rate for those first Ken figures, not sure about the second ones but I saw them come and go from Mandarake recently and they weren't cheap. It just came out on DVD recently so maybe a surge in interest...

The Spectre-, Devilman, and Triple Fighter from Ultrakaiju's post above would have been gnawing at my wallet if I had seen that while the auction was live.

I know the Bandai Devilman is highly sought after, and finding removable mask Iron King and Zone Fighter can be tricky but I really don't see much that is super rare here. That bootleg Rider X seems like a tall version of a mini I own. Much like there are two Inazuman sizes for that one bootleg.

Yeah, I definitely thought something might be a bit funny about this auction. One, as I said, there didn't really seem to be anything there to justify that high of a price, but two, the large bids seemed to be coming in on a regular basis, and it wasn't one where there was a flurry of activity at the end.

I don't know what the seller is trying to do, or if maybe someone did actually bit and renege, but if that were me I would just list each guy separately. Might be more of a hassle in the end, but few people are going to be willing to drop that much for one massive lot. Even just breaking them into threes would be better.

Wow, that is another really nice lot of minis. You so rarely have a chance at the Barom-1 villains, but especially the small scale guys. The Ikageruge is the stuff of my dreams.

The grey guy is another Moonlight Mask/Gekko Kamen villain. Oops, Scott beat me to it by a minute.

The Frankenruge has KR V3 legs on him ...

Ha!! Fantastic eye you got there Scott. I wasn't even looking that closely, but you are completely right. Someone did some fudging there at some point in the past to really make a 'Franken'-figure.

Okay, here is the one I was really focusing on the past week. I didn't win it, of course , but was wondering what people's thoughts were on this guy. I don't know if there was some playing around with the photo, or just kind of weird exposure, but the colour on this Mechanikong is not like any I have seen before. Not that I think it is some rare Hawaii version, I just couldn't go so high in the auction, and hate it when I have any doubts spending this amount of cash. I think someone found a decent deal, but dang it, it was not me.




Anyway, not rare or expensive, but I have been screwed over in the past by 'faulty' images on YJA that completely showed a different colour, and I would hate to think of how sad I would be to receive this guy and see he looked completely different. Plus, going through all this there is really little to no recourse too after the fact. I just don't have the pockets that I could take a chance.

So, light blue version? Weird photo? Touched up paint?

My guess (which is mostly based on that last picture of MK lying down) is that it is the regular dark blue version and that the flash is just doing really weird things to it in the 2 pics of the figure standing. Judging by the last pic, I don't see any signs of a repaint, but who knows.

Thanks Paul. You are probably right, and as I didn't know, I just decided to pull out. I also don't know how I missed this auction that ended a couple weeks ago. Sure, the figures might be kind of janky, but that doesn't bother me at all, and what a price for the four of them! Someone pulled off a really nice haul.

And, yeah, I'm guessing that Mechanikong is the common dark blue one, just with weird flash effects...

Looks to be the normal 'standard' sized guy from Bullmark. I think he is about 28cm, so a bit larger than the normal ST figures, as you can see by comparison to the other guys, he comes in inbetween the MG and the Kikaida. The giant version of him has a much more elongated head/face.

I guess that I'll chime in as an "expert" (I used to do quite a bit of darkroom work as an amateur photographer), to say that I am 90% sure that those MK pics suffer from flash "bleaching".

All right, one more to share. I have noticed a lot of the rarer talkers coming up for sale recently; must be one of those things where someone sees what they are going for and decides to list their own I guess. At any rate, this guy was not too bad, but there was sure a flurry of bids coming in at the end.




I love this guy, a really nice version of the character.

I remember seeing this toy on the CKA site when he posted a pic of some Yonezawa Nodders years ago. Pretty freaky. Translation says:

Yeah, I was watching that guy too. I didn't actually know they had vintage versions of Gokidon, so it was interesting to see him pop up. Definitely a cool figure, but that would be too much for me for such a crude figure/rough paint job, as much as love the bootlegs.
