Post Toygraph Racers
Hello, I couldn't find a reference thread for the just the Toygraph Racers, so I thought I'd start one here...
FYI, the "Vroom Vroom" Thread in the Show Your Collections Section is here
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=46009&hilit=toygraph
Thank you chimmychazz! :P

So, can someone please tell me about this set of Racers?
Image
Notice that there is no racing car number on the hood of each car. It seems to be bagged as a set-Kanegon, Booska, and Garamon. I am trying to figure out if this was a non-standard issue produced for a show/event or a special release? And, what year were they produced? I've never seen a PINK Kanegon Racer before! I've seen an un-number blue Kanegon racer with a black car, but not a pink one.

The header card:

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :D

Post Re: Toygraph Racers
I remember discussing this before too, and I thought it was in Toygraph thread but I guess not. Anyways, there are a few different versions for several of the racers. The ones that came packaged together were released initially I think, though I can't say if it was a festival specifically or what (you'll notice they also had the collecting 'points' on the headers), and these ones did not have numbers. TG then released some of them individually in different colours of monsters/cars, and these have the added racing numbers on the car hoods. I think there were [at least] three different sets of three, but when they come up they are always very pricey.

I can't chime in too much here with info, but I have two racers and neither of mine have numbers on the car. Have you checked Club Tokyo for any other info?

Post Re: Toygraph Racers
I can't seem to find the other thread where it was posted (I thought), but here are the sets I know of:

Series 1: Kanegon (blue), Red King (beige), Icarus
Series 2: Garamon (red), Eleking, Astron
Series 3: ? (I think, if this one existed in anything but my fuzzy memory, it might have been a Toho pack with Goji, Matango, and Gorosaurus)
Series Ex: Kanegon (pink), Booska (pink), Garamon (blue) {the one you posted Grace, might be 'Ex' for exclusive set}

I might have to eat my words, because, although I hadn't seen it, here is a photo of the three packs with the numbers. Maybe these were repacks of the single versions (?).

It actually looks like they might have been released at WF in 2006. You can see there was already the two variants of Kanegon and Garamon, and none have the numbers added.

And some more random pics to ogle over:

Damn you, now everyone is going to want these even more. How am I going to get another little guy to race my Gamera? Great pics and info. The hunt continues.

Yeah, I know David, and I apologise - just trying to share the info. I am in the same boat. Haven't lucked out on finding one of these in the last two and a half years. :? Dang things are just so popular with everyone it seems. Someone is buying them, because I have certainly suffered several narrow misses, but damned if I have seen any new pics of them. Maybe if we just all get together we will have enough to put on a race?

Oh Dear! Sorry Animator!   But, thank you jillions STEVE! :D (still salivating over those photos!!! )
I really LOVE the Racers, and yes, I know, so does everyone else, but I couldn't find very much info on them (yessum, I searched SB and Club Tokyo and did my homework before posting  ). Sorry about that

I think it would be wonderful to have a real racing get together though! :P
P.S. What is the name of that "Scuba Diver" Racer? He looks like he's wearing a diving mask and is covered in scales...
Chris originally posted this photo (thank you Chris!)
Image

P.P.S. Steve: Were those collecting points redeemable for a toy or something?
P.P.P.S. Sorry Steve, I keep mistaking you for Bill!

You mean this guy Grace?

More images

He is based off the full size Toygraph sculpt of the same space diver. I am not sure if he has a real name, but he is just called Monster Resamuu from what I have seen (怪獣レーサー ムウ帝国人 ) He is actually a submarine driver character from Atragon. You can see an image of the crew below in their diving outfits.

He's soooooooooooooooo CUTE! :P Thank you Steve! :D I'll have to see if I can find that episode, it looks like a fun one!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atragon
...and if anyone is looking to foster this guy out, I would love to adopt him
We STILL need a time way-back machine, then there would be enough Racers for everyone! ...Sheldon, where are you?

P.S. and thanks for posting that Series List and all of the info! I remember seeing this photo of what you listed as Series 2

David. I know this is a joke but not a joke....
But if enough people talked about these and asked for them, maybe toygraph would make a new run in new colors, or even add some new sculpts. Toy makers perspective.

Ya... unfortunately he was ill. I'm not sure if he got better or not, but Toygraph is no more. :-(

@Lalo Thanks! :D

Is this one Toygraph as well? The car looks the same. I am terrible at identifying even my own toys.

Yep! Zegoran.

Here he is resorting to his own two feet:
http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/it ... 79644.html

From what I've read, most of the solid color versions of that racer came complete with his bottom half.

oh ouch. Out of business. I don't pay enough attention to this stuff. Hope he is ok. Wonder where the molds are. Sure these will resurface again. Maybe US toys or someone will produce them.

It has been a toy-fantasy of mine for a while now that if Toygraph-san were unable to go back into the business that someone like US or M1 might license the use of his molds.

Let's all clap our hands and shout "I believe in fairys the continued popularity of Toygraph sculpts!"

Post Re: Toygraph Racers
toygraph owes me a lot of figures including some proto racers which i have prepaid before he dropped out of the radar.
initially i was naturally angry at being scammed by a reputable maker. the last time he made contact a few years back, he mentioned about his health issues. since then, no one has been able to contact him.
today, while i am still somewhat disappointed since it involved quite a tidy sum, i genuinely hope he is ok and recuperating.
