Yeah I remember that. Could well be the case. The extra squishy head is what has me intrigued. If a dye job it turns out to be, no biggie. Still a nice looking figure.

Yeah, which is why I'm still wondering about this one. At first glance it looks like it could be an after the fact dye job. Looks like the only way to get a definitive answer is by going to the source.

Beautiful. I was tempted, but have no clue where to even begin purchasing a body to fit. Was also nervous by the 'fragile' disclaimer.

What were the three different options on this suit? I don't know a thing about the suits and I'm at work on my phone so I can't attempt to translate it.

3 different editions . Pics all looked exactly the same.

$57 Devil Monster (plum)
$76 Devil Monster (bamboo)
$95 Devil Monster (pine)

The suits were in varying conditions probably due to the chrome coating degrading over time. The pine/bamboo/plum is apparently a Japanese convention for designating quality (pine is best, plum is worst). I didn't know this before reading the item listing. The More You Know, rainbow, star, jingle.

Some collectors go to Obitsu for bodies.

I could be slightly off-base on this, but my theory is that these were produced a while ago, maybe around the same time as the last Death Phantom suits (Halloween painted and unpainted orange) - and have been unearthed and put up for sale now. I know at least one person who already has a gold death phantom suit that he got a while back. I would also guess there are an extremely low number of these based on expense to produce and (relatively) niche appeal.

Hiddy originally made the suits when the re-production Heshin Cyborg / Walder bodies were plentiful and have their links back to that old line of suits. It's the lack of these bodies now that holds Hiddy back from making new suits. These latest gold ones I think have been floating about unreleased. I scored one some time back which was from a not for sale release and Hiddy isn't joking when he says the chrome is fragile. The gold looks stunning though.

In terms of bodies:

: Henshin Cyborg / Walder is always the best.
: If you have to, then the Obitsu bodies work fine - pose infinitely better too. (Reproduction Henshins are pretty loose).
: NT has made some of the later edition Henshin bodies work, but it takes a bit of DIY.

I wrote to SB asking on the suit when I got it.
It was made for an exhibition and is few in number was the history I got and that some may have been in Lucky Bags at some point. No indication of from when. I imagine you're right though Carl.

I'm so short on bodies... I should probably just buy a bunch of Obitsu so I can display the rest of my suits.

For these plated D.Phantoms, I'm assuming the best way to display them is to just put the large head on the neck stump without fussing with the inner head? I can't imagine stuffing the inner head into the horned head would work well.

I would leave the inner head at peace and just use the neck stump if using the Obitsu body. You could fit the horned head over a heated up and squishy Henshine human head to give a little support.
Take care with the chest piece too. Boots and gloves are fine, but the chest piece needs to be pushed about a little to get it on a body and that's where the chrome fun begins.
Great looking thing when on a body though. Looks great with a clear body and chrome motor of a henshin.

Good to know! Do you heat it up with a hair dryer? Or will the application of heat do more harm than good?
