You shouldn't need to heat anything up to get the suit without inner head onto the body. My chrome bee suit has survived well over the 8 years Ive had it as a result.

Also, I think I just sourced two new KW II bodies! Still would love to find a purple one though...

Purple means either a vintage body or the dukuro king repro. Go for the vintage - they stand better than the repros - joints are tighter on all mine even though they are 40 years old - and they price similarly.

The KWII bodies are a lot more broad chested and have magnetic limbs so they may not fit this suit. There are several exact or near exact bodies to fit the vintage and vintage style fit suits if you can't afford or don't want to spend the Henshin body money. Henshin Cyborg bodies are exactly GI bodies and were licensed from Hasbro originally. Here are some relatively cheap alternatives that fit:

These all use the vintage style Joe Body or an extremely close matching body type:
Vintage/Repro GI Joe bodies
Medicom RAH original style bodies
Magic Q bodies (bonus they come with an Ultraman looking head)
Sgt. Rock 12" Figures (do not put repro Henshin Costumes on these though the vinyl match is not good)

Managed to score the Purple, got my invoice this morning.
Cant believe I scored all 4 in under a month - been so lucky as 2 of them came from friends who bought them and didn't like the colours when they arrived!
