Re: Official Manga Thread
^^ Looks good
I just received this one in the post. The usual drawn & quarterly quality paperback . . . . 534 pages. This is part one of two i believe, and it looks great. I will be reading this one soon.

Ya, it's great. I'd say it's a must have if you enjoyed Nonnonba as there are also autobiographical elements and this one fills in gaps from Nonnonba.

^^ Cool - and yeah, Nonnonba was great.
I did notice flicking through Showa 1926 - 1939, that Nezumi Otoko makes an appearance . . . .

Just got these two in the mail (pardon the pun) . . . obviously I haven't read them yet but they look good.
Picked these up at the bookstore, loved the imagery! The stories were brutal too. I cheated and read the third one in the store while my kid did her homework.

Pretty spectacular and charming read. It was The Fugitive before The Fugitive. Brilliant story, and the fact that the artist wrote/drew it in a MONTH in his 20s, back in the 1950s!!! Mind blowing.
Looking for more one-offs like this. Might check out GoGo Monster...

Yeah, I need to check out A Drifting Life, and those others as well. Can't go wrong with your recommendations, Moog! I also REALLY want to watch the animated-documentary film about his life, Tatsumi.

^^ Yeah, i just bought that on DVD in Fopp last weekend for £5. I haven't watched it yet.
All the reviews i've seen say it's an excellent documentary!

Wow, I really need to pick up a copy of that Mysterious Underground book. The quality looks great, and would love to read some of Osamu's alternative stuff.

Re: Official Manga Thread
Earlier this year i decided to start reading Jojo's Bizarre Adventure while taking the train to work.
I'm currently towards the end of the 5th series Vento Aureo. If you are even remotely interested in crazy fighting manga this one tops the list for me. It's really refreshing in terms of it not being the standard 'train hard to get stronger' fighting series, the fights are more a battle of wits.
Loved the fighting game on Dreamcast. Always interested in the manga, and tempted to pick up the new game releasing on the PS3 even though I'm so out of the loop on it. But love the style and crazy characters!

PS3 game looks amazing, can't wait for the english release. An easy introduction would be the stardust crusaders anime coming out later this year. The stands don't come in until this part which starts in volume 13, so it's a decent read before the manga becomes the same Jojo's from the Dreamcast game.

Re: Official Manga Thread
^^ The only scanlation link i found for 'Tetsujin 28' has been taken down due to copyright. I cant find it anywhere else.
I did find this list of downloads which includes 'Giant Robo'. I tested the first set and they are good quality png's. All the links still seem to be working as far as i can tell . . . .

Posted about Jojo a while ago. One of my favorite Manga series besides Berserk. Favorite Jojo is Jotaro, favorite sidekick is from Part 4, Okuyasa. Part 4 is actually my favorite Jojo series.

Re: Official Manga Thread
This is really interesting. The daughter of legendary manga artist Osamu Tezuka (Astroboy, Black Jack, just to name a couple) was going through an old desk of her father's that had been locked since he passed away. Inside she discovered a trove of before unseen sketches of the artist and drawings for characters we haven't even seen before. Pretty damn amazing stuff. I am happy this was opened before the desk ended up somewhere else.
