Kiyoka did this one for a Thrashout show in 2012 (I believe it was NFS) and another at SDCC a few years back with the whole water affect - I believe there was a Miborah and Deathra done in that style. I personally love this and it's really amazing and exciting to see his skill just get better with each show!

He did a sametan maybe 2012 as well with pool water style. It's a flipping winner. I was so stoked he did those killers with this style too.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Yeah there were 2 Miboras and a deathra at sdcc 2012 with this style. They had it on the guts but not the arms/legs. I don't think there has been a zag, but I'm not totally sure. The killers were my favorite with the "water pattern" as it fits the sculpt perfectly. I couldn't find the other deathra but here are the others.

I wonder if Gargamel painted the Beetlars from the 2008 egg set. Those also had a similar underwater pattern.

Brief sidebar, but I don't quite understand why people buy these one-offs just to trade or sell them within hours after doing so. Thus far I see two on the boards Carry on...

You posted my thoughts verbatim after seeing the above pic. Never ceases to amaze how the right paint application can give an entirely new perspective to a sculpt. All of the event pics have been pure eye candy, much thanks to all who shared. I can only begin to imagine how grand these customs looked in person...

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
Gargamel keeps coming out with custom paints and custom shows. They need to come out with more large production runs. Its becoming more expensive to collect gargamel

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
^^ I would slightly disagree. Only slightly. It's actually become quite economical and fun to collect gargamel toys specifically the older toys. Things have popped up for really cheap and that's part of the fun.
I would say if you are into collecting 1-offs then sure but I've always thought the fun of collecting a 1-off was to grab one or at least try to grab 1 from each show they hold. More of a challenge but definitely worth it.
I'm happy that these guys are still making toys. I hope they don't stop.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
I think large production runs are just not economincally viable anymore. Honestly, the non-Japanse sofubi collecting (by which I really mean purchasing) customer base has dwindled since, say, 2005 or 2006.
I'll echo the above sentiment: I'm just glad that Gargamel are still making toys. Not only that, I really believe each show is better than the last.

I don't know if it's dwindled, it's just spread out across all the new offerings and brands. Back then you were probably going to be buying Gargamel or Secret Base and that was about it. and more and more people just started making toys and the money spread out. Maybe they could never do runs of 300 figures again, but they could do more runs of 40 or 50.

 Re: New Gargamel Figs!
I like the pace of Gargamels releases now. Between LBs, SDCC, some customs here and there, plus going after the older stuff.. my wallet couldnt handle anymore. especially with all the other stuff I collect.

Maybe a hundred or so small toy makers out there now. Thanks a huge load to gargamel for keeping on keeping on.
