Congrats to Canada! Yay! But it sure was mostly a dull game to watch... :|

See those stupid Olympics killed momentum in the NHL! Well at least with the Bruins it did

Ovechkin scored his 800th point today and Jagr got his 700th goal. 700 goals? that rare air indeed. I think that Ovechkin will eventually get there (700 goals).

As much as I hate the Pens and Hawks I'll probably watch it tonight. I always like to eye up the competition for the Stanley Cup. Apparently Toews and Crosby have never faced each other, and it is an outdoor game in freezing Chicago!

I was just saying how I am happy for Price to have earned that gold medal, but the fact the Subban has one still strikes me as really odd. Oh well, at least I am hoping they can rub it in the face of Kessel and the Leafs tonight.

Jagr is a machine, no questions. I don't know how him and Selanne do it. Even with their age, I would gladly take that kind of play on my team.

I'm embarrassed after that game.

However kudos to Jagr, my childhood hero.

Oh my watching Heritage Classic and the feed is HNIC- how can you Canadians stand the Hockey Night in Canada team? Ron Maclean, Don Cherry etc....It's like a full on toolbox. Ron Maclean always looks and sounds angry, probably because he has to sit next to Ron Cherry and listen to his brand of crazy 24-7. I almost expect him to snap and kill Cherry. Maclean is a full on jerk though always interrupting people and thinking he's right. Then again when I have to watch NBC's Milbury and Roenick go at it, I always wish someone would body slam Milbury. I'm only happy listening to Edwards and Brickley, but I don't mind Doc Emerick and Eddie Olczyk. No one likes McGuire

Milbury/Roenick shtick is annoying.
The Hawks vs. Pens outdoor game is the most entertaining so far...more because of the weather. That snow building up was hilarious to watch as they played. I did like Roenick pointing out how Crosby was yapping at the ref while Toews was waiting around...looking annoyed at Crosby.
I used to not like Jagr but this older Jagr is much better. Happy he got his milestone. Happier is was against Nabakov. I never really like Nabby, even when he was a Shark.

I do not like that the Canadians got Vanek. He's a known Bruin killer. Grrrrrr. He does his best work though in the first half of the season, second half he always seems tired. You Hab fans will notice trust me.

Meszaros? Really Bruins? That's the answer to the experienced stay at home D-man who can play a lot of minutes. Grrrrrr 2.

So what do people think of the trades taking place this year at the deadline? Vancouver still has me scratching my head, but whatever. It is not a massive surprise, but it just seems so idiotic to make this trade a year after it should have been done. Now they are on the hook for 8 years of salary AND they gave up Luongo. Way to go fellas.

Not sure on the Habs. We never do anything at the trade deadline, but picking up Vanek, well, who knows. I am not a big fan of him, but we didn't give up that much I guess. Just tired of only taking in 'names' that are has-beens. Hopefully he can perform, but look at the history of that in Montreal - so many players have never amounted to what they used to do.

Ha! Simultaneous posting, we must have been on the same wavelength. :P I will definitely appreciate any advantage over the B's, but that is also assuming we actually get back to a regular schedule of playing each other.

I cannot believe the Oilers, for all that they have had for the last several seasons, are working on yet another implode and rebuild year.

Everyone knows Vanek is signing with Minnesota come free agency this summer, so hopefully he will actually play for you guys and not be a quitter. I was never a Sabre fan but I've seen enough games here in Buffalo to question his work ethic. He just seems to run out of steam some games.

I think the Canucks, Oilers, Flames, and Islanders (you could probably through the Flyers in there to!) are some of the worst managed teams in the league. All of those GM's need to be fired.

Well, thankfully that monkey is off the Bruins back. Man the dread pirate yeti Soderberg is looking really gifted on every shift and Lucic was in beast mode tonight! Emelin is going to have recurring nightmares of seeing Lucic coming for him in his sleep.

Well, that was a pretty decent game in the end for the Habs; came back from a 4-1 deficit in the last couple minutes of a game to eek out a win and a very crucial 2 points. The playoff race is looking pretty tight in the eastern divisions this year.

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
Well there goes that streak. I knew the Habs would win if it went to a shoot out. For the record I hate shootouts. I'm oldschool. I think it should go on an on in overtime till someone scores. 5 on 5 hockey. I still have no idea how the Bruins can't just reel in their emotions and just play their game against the Canadians. As much as I love when the B's get super physical, do that shit after you have the lead, don't take the bait from Montreal. Watching last night it looked like the Canadians were holding on for dear life the entire game. The Bruins are clearly a better team and if it wasn't for Budaj the Canadians would have been shelled at least 5-1.

Apparently Alexi Emelin has not learned any lessons playing the Bruins. He continues to go after Lucic because he's upset he bounced off him like a beachball trying to stop a tank last year and it ended his season. Chara already kicked his ass for spearing Seguin last year, does he really have a death wish?

The Bruins are on a decent streak, 9 straight road wins. That was an odd game today with the Flyers - some good points but also some terrible ones, but anytime Philly comes away with a loss is a good one. Toronto seems insistent on doing their typical pre-postseason tanking. The Habs seem to be eking out these wins here and there, if completely by chance, but I will take it any day of the week. Excited for the playoffs.

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
I hate the hex and jinx the media seems to be putting on the Bruins lately calling them the best team. Sure they're playing excellent hockey but it's definitely not mistake free. I get nervous when anyone not named Chara, Boychuck, or Miller gets penned in their zone and tries to make a pass. Even Chara and Boychuck made really bad passes today. Bartkowski is the fucking worst. He makes me white knuckle it every game. Even Habs and Bruins fans can agree it's great to see Toronto tank. 8 losses in a row? LMFAO.

One team I DO NOT want to B's to play come post season is Detroit. They always find a way to beat Boston, kind of like the Habs. I hope Shitsburgh has to deal with them and we get Columbus. speaking of the Pens, watched a little of their game tonight vs Chicago. If Toews and Handzus both went down with serious injuries (dirty Orpik again crushed his arm, didn't look good) their season is over. They already don't have Kane & Bickell, so they might get killed by Colorado come playoffs.

Damn, two days of strong comebacks, I am liking the way this is coming together down the stretch. Did not expect a win against Detroit, and that blowout in the third period was probably due. A good game though. But come on, that last goal was interference according to everything that they have been calling lately - look at Chara's the other night as an example - which is barely anything. Not that it affected the ultimate outcome, but bad call. Can we not at least have some consistency already?

I was watching the Detroit -Montreal game as well. The officiating has been horrific in just about every game I've watched lately. Sad because at this time of year you want it to be the best especially with so much riding on the line. So many bad calls in the Philly- Boston game today. Seriously though, if Detroit makes the playoffs does anyone want to have to play them? I know Boston doesn't!

Nope we got em' Great. I watched them completely dismantle a team built like Boston, the St Louis Blues today. Detroit easily beats forechecking with speed and puck possession. Bruins are going to have to get super physical with them and not make errant passes out of the d-zone. I do think Boston will win but they can't take the Wings lightly, that gear they've been needing to kick into can finally be switched now that the regular season is thankfully over.

The Blues have sort of sucked lately though, and Rask is ten times the goalie Miller is.

Post Re: The good ol' hockey game
It's interesting to think of that match up being the overall lead vs. the 2nd wild card spot, as Detroit can certainly bring it. Bruins have the advantage physically, and with some scoring depth, but you can never count out a skilled and fast team like the Wings, so I think it is pretty balanced. If Zetterberg does come back (and plays at his usual level) that also evens the playing field more. It is a good coaching match up too.

Not overly excited to play Tampa. Not that they are a incredibly skilled team, just not that exciting. Toronto (or Ottawa) squeaking in would have been great. We have beaten them only once this season (not that either is such a strong team) and that was in a SO. But two of their wins also came in OT and SO, so whatever. We have by far the upper hand on goaltending, but Price has been knocked off his game before. He has been standing up to it all lately though, and I think he has started to grow into the pressure and wipe stuff off easier. He got a confidence boost from the Olympics too, so I am more concerned with getting decent scoring (as always with them).

And I need extra coffee this morning. Spent all night watching playoff hockey! Even if you don't like hockey- playoff hockey is the best in sports hands down. Nothing compares in all of sports! Tuned out of the Flyers game really quick as I hate the Rangers.

The St Louis- Chicago game was incredible. Triple overtime! I really thought the Blues were going to blow it. I think if they lost that game they would have easily lost the series. I don't think they've won a game in weeks. I love that Toews got ruffed up  Pussy. So tired of all the accolades that come his way. I barely could keep my eyes open to see the Avalanche come back in OT.

Agreed. All these games are so tight! Only watched the Tampa-Montreal game, but the series looks very promising! Blues/Blackhawks does sound like it must be so tight! Miller did well...

NHL playoffs are indeed where it is at. I think the St. Louis-Chicago series will be a good one. And I was really hoping for Columbus to pull out a win against the Pens that first game, it came pretty close.

I have major beef with the cable company. Worked my shitty-ass part time job till midnight, avoided all sources of media and conversations the entire evening, and stayed up till three in the morning watching the Habs game, only to find out that the recording of the game cut off one minute before they scored in OT. One minute. Of course, I had no idea how much time was left in the game, or what it ended at, but come on, what kind of system isn't set up to match the broadcast coverage of the actual event? BS. :x

That sucks, S... Hope you got to watch the game tonight though! Loved the Habs' confidence.

(Oh, and sorry Chris... That was must have hurt. Gotta say that Lucic spearing looked really cheap though.)

What spearing? Anyhow not worried. Bruins are resilient, Redwings got lucky. They'll wear them down. Montreal might get by Tampa Bay but they won't get beyond that.

EDIT: Oh finally saw a gif of the spearing. Oh well that's playoff hockey. I'm all about the physical aspect of it. I'd prefer to see Detroit pounded into oblivion and bank on it THEY WILL BE.
