Yeah I'm going to be hard pressed to find anything remotely close to this show worth watching once it ends. Can't believe next week is the last episode already. So lawnmower man is yellow king?

Am I incorrect in guessing that he's supposed to be the "spaghetti monster with green ears"? Then again, I haven't been putting in too much thought into solving all the mystery so I could be wrong. I'm just along for the ride, loving every minute haha

It does seem like a bit to tie up in not much time -
reminds me of another show I won't even mention by name.

Seeing them work together and kind of get along - I wish there were more episodes.

That's how I felt when "Breaking Bad" ended. That's how a lot of folks felt when "The Wire" ended. Before that, we felt that nothing would ever be any good after "The Sopranos." Like that elf lady in a candle shop said in LOTR, there's always hope. :D

It's probably nothing important, but just bugging me - I can't seem to figure out what is being referred to in this scene - around the 43-44 minute mark of episode 3, Maggie calls Cohle - what is she talking about/asking in the beginning of the conversation if anyone knows?

Interesting article -

Yeah, Episode 7 felt like the first half of the final episode... They have a lot of ends to tie up. I really want them to do a 2 hour finale but thats not HBO's usual thing? Really looking forward to the end either way, can't stop thinking about it!

Not sure what's so amusing about the photo.

Did remind me about Edtv though. Totally forgot about that movie. Actually wasn't a bad flick.

I haven't actually gone back to check yet, but was this lawnmower man not the same as the one previous? Seemed a bit weird to have these two random guys set up on the Tuttle Parish jobs. But I assume it wasn't, else how did they not see it (though in fairness, I didn't either, so there's that - but I also could barely see the scars now, only because the shot made it painfully evident, so who knows). I was actually hoping for a more 'mutant' looking scary dude.

Same Lawnmower man. They only showed him from the left side as I recall. I too was expecting a more horrible Cthulu face.

All signs are pointing to the fact that Audrey Hart was involved in the past. Have a horrible feeling about it.

One more episode....

Hart mentions the 'detective's curse' way back - about not being able to solve something that is right under your nose. I loved the scene with the new cops racing off, just like Cohle and Rust raced off to leave the lawnmower guy when Hart got the call about the suspect.

The amount of time they have spent on hart's daughter (the drawings, the dolls, the boys), i still think something's gonna pay off there.

Literally can not wait for the final. This is one show I can wait to just go back and rewatch to see what I missed.

I can't believe the show is ending already tonight. That was a very pleasant diversion in contrast to all the crap being broadcast as entertainment these days. I love HBO, but what is so good about it (quality) also invariably leads to shorter seasons. It's a trade-off I am fine with, but that doesn't make it any less difficult to brave the wait between seasons.

Well I'm torn. I was hoping the end would be beyond my own scrutiny and just something I could go: "OK that was great, TD wrapped up nice". While it wasn't the worst, it was sort of ambiguous and left me feeling very indifferent towards the ending. Definitely a good show but I thought it would have wrapped up differently. Too many red herrings I guess.

isn't real life sort of like that?

Yes and no. I view TV as a bit of escape from reality.

Post Re: True Detective
This review really captures how I felt about the finale. There was all sorts of build up all season, and then the finale seemed so out of place. It doesn't really delve into and explain what was "really" going on. Not to say it was terrible, it just left me wanting more of an understanding as to everything that happened.

I think this article sums up my thoughts on the ending and the season/ series overall.

http://popwatch.ew.com/2014/03/10/true- ... py-ending/

Not saying it's perfect ( the article) but a good take.
