 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Been a while since I posted a full size Bullmark. This guy is a little scuffed, but in really nice shape for my standards, and was a relative bargain, so fortunately I have a few coins leftover to feed him. Nice paint on him, and of course, one of the classic Bullmark sculpts.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Wow Steve!! Your two last scores have been worth noting (last five really)! This Kanegon is in very good shape, from this distance I can only see the sore lip, probably because you've been feeding him coins.

Was that the Mandarake one? I really kicked myself hard for that one. Congrats either way.

Thanks guys. I think he might've been putting his lipstick on in the car Aldo. Was having a bit of fun playing around with this guy today, so I was just fooling around with this, when going through my pics I noticed a slight difference in angle shots.

Nice stereoscopic Kanegon Steve! I'm needing one of these Bullmarks for my Ultra Q shelf too.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Congrats, ultrakaiju! I've been wanting a vintage Kanegon for awhile now. Settling for a gold reissue for now. And way to keep the vintage gifs going. I think we need to start a new thread featuring gifs of vintage vinyls. Between this and my Mikuras, we have a good start. These are so fun.

There's a ton of free websites out there, and its pretty simple. I think I used this one myself: http://picasion.com/But there are probably better ones out there.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Yeah, these are dead easy Sanjeev. As Myles said, there are several sites out there, and it really just takes a second to upload and compile them. Like his great pic of Miclas, I just did this when I was going through several photos I took and noticed (because I my terribly shitty hands) that the angle was off from one to the next. With proper adjustments/planning, you could actually make a really great [if short] stop-motion movie with your toys. I just happened to use imgflip, which allows you to adjust the timing, size, and quality, but this was my first one so I can't really compare them. Mine was just done with three photos that were almost identical, but it's still interesting to see what you can throw together.

Bullmark Beacon by Michael Beverage, on Flickr Bullmark Beacon by Michael Beverage, on Flickr Bullmark Beacon by Michael Beverage, on Flickr I enjoy this thread immensely. I have a pathetically small vintage collection, and everything I own is pretty run-of-the-mill except for this toy. I find this Beacon to be one of the strangest Ultra characters ever created. He is in pretty bad shape but I still love him.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
That is a really nice one Michael. Great choice for a figure too. I think Tsuburaya really channeled some classic pulp sci-fi monster in that design. Jack has some of my favourite kaiju. And to find a vintage one is really special. Beautiful colours on that guy Michael; a fantastic addition to any sized collection.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Thank you sir.
To me, he looks very silly and I would imagine him as a smaller henchman, but he sure causes some major destruction in his Jack appearance.

Oh Beacon! So cute! A wonderful addition, congratulations Mike! I love him, because he reminds me of a hedgehog that fell into a candy vat. A very tactile toy too--the spines on his back and the little ones on his leggies, give him quite a character.

^Thank you! Vintage toys draw me in more and more, although I resist the pull because the rabbit hole is so deep, and I already collect toys from too many neo kaiju makers. But everyone who gets serious about this hobby owes it to themselves to learn something about vintage toys. For me, that mostly consists of getting hammered and watching Ultraman episodes .

That is indeed an awesome figure. I love the cuteness, the charm, and the history behind vintage sofubi figures. Re: Vintage Mail Day
Congrats, Michael. I really dig the profile view. I finally had my stuff from Japan shipped. Been sitting there for quite a while now. Here are a few of items from the package. Some random thoughts, comments, and questions: I was surprised at the material for the bootleg Goji. I expected a hard, thin plastic. This was much closer to vinyl than I anticipated. A very pleasant surprise. The Gomora was a must buy for me. I've been on the hunt for one for a long time now (only having had the 1991 reissue), and when I saw this particular specimen, I knew I had to have it. It had the most paint on the face that I have ever seen in this figure before. There is a little warping on the body, and I will have to address that. Nothing that can't be fixed, I hope. Here are some more photos: As to the Pagos, its nice to be able to unite him with his long lost brother, Neronga. Same body, and the African animal tie-in. The Anguirus is confusing me. The spikes on the back are all nubby, not pointy. My B-Club reissue has pointy spikes. Are all vintage Bullmarks like this, or is this a variation? Pics: Also picked up a vintage Great Mazinger vinyl. It was a little smaller than I expected, having already owned the MFV:

What a box of winners, man! Sunny South Florida just got even brighter.
Really nice to see Pagos and Neronga together. Has anyone done a repro of Pagos, yet? I know the neo-Bullmark did a did a nice looking Pegila with a Chandler head on the side not too long ago, so there's hope at least.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Thanks! There was at least this version of Pagos. I own one, and its a nice figure. http://www.clubtokyo.org/listings/itemL ... entID=1566Lixx, I'm not sure if they are worn down. Granted, the paint is missing from all the tips. But I imagine that if they were that worn down, I would see at least one or two hole at the ends. There are none. Plus there are no abrasions. So I believe it came this way. There might certainly be play wear, but probably not that uniformly over the whole back.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
That's a great haul Kingboy! So the blow mold Goji is thicker than expected, interesting. I've always wondered since I've never held one of those bootlegs.
That Gomora is epic.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
Yep, that glow Pagos is one of those really nice GID B-Club releases. There have actually been a few other versions as well, one in the typical all-blue paint scheme, one with gold sprays, and then two on red vinyl (metallic green and black), and then a all brown one (the latter ones released under the neo-Bullmark label). Odd about the bootleg Godzilla, I was really expecting a thin blow-molded production too. Nice to be pleasantly surprised it is of even better quality. Love the Gomora - you sure picked out a nice one after all that hunting. As far as the back spikes on Anguirus go, I think that it is probably not wear. Could be that (1) the older figures were produced in such larger numbers and at quicker cost/lower attention that the mold became a bit 'clogged' after the excessive use, but I think it is also likely that (2) they re-tooled the mold a bit for the repro, trying to "fix" things they identified as flawed in the original or maybe that were not possible to achieve at the time. I think there have been a few other reproductions figures where they have incorporated small changes to the originals. Just a chance to address some things or differentiate them when making new molds for the reissues.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
You know what? I actually have the blue with gold spray version of Pagos! When you have so much that you begin to forget what you have, then perhaps its time to let some things go. And yeah, I agree with you about the spines. Makes sense.

 Re: Vintage Mail Day
The sharper Angilas spikes on the reissue have to be retoolings. My vintage Angilas has the same blunted spikes, but there's very little paint wear...so they're certainly not worn down. And the molds wouldn't have gotten clogged with anything...
Interesting to note, though--I only had an M1 repro Angilas for a little while (and years before I got a vintage one), so I never noticed the spikes being sharper...
