Sheila lost her paw paw in the middle of the night. He had his 3rd stroke in 2 months about 3 weeks ago, but the Doctors at UVA were hopeful he'd pull through.
This man was so special to her as her own father tried to take her life as a baby and vanished after to never be seen or heard from again shortly after.
Ken Storms taught her how to hunt, fish, clean a deer, work on cars, etc..etc. He loved her to the moon and w/o condition. She even adopted his last name as her 'House DJ moniker', DJ Sheila Storms.
He was so special to me, as I asked him for his permission to marry Sheila 9 years ago, when we didnt think he'd make it through lung and kidney cancer. Martha Jefferson Hospital told him he had 1 week to live. Ken wasn't accepting that - got into his car, drove to UVA and they saved him. As did his faith.
Paw Paw opened his home to me when I went through my Cancer last year. He lives only 20 min from UVA and I stayed there M-F. He drove me to just about every Radiation appt, save for the Friday's when I'd head home right after to be with Sheila. He was there for my 3 surgeries, chemo appointments and all. It felt good to have someone who had faced the horrors of Cancer and understood where I was in my journey and to be there for me.
He even introduced me to his friends, as his Grandson.
I didnt have anymore Grandfathers but it warmed me to know he thought of me as his.
See you again one day paw paw. Can't wait to go fishing with you.
