I just saw them casually start cooking with gas and it threw me.

Quick questions -

How did the house they were staying in have power and gas?
Wouldn't the supply for both of been cut-off weeks ago?

Also, how much time is supposed to have passed since the first episode?

About a year and half has elapsed-so yeah most of these things would not be working. Unless the former residents had maybe a propane tank connected to the house where the gas had not dissipated yet.

Caught that too but given up on stuff like that. I mean sometimes been maintaining the lawns too.

Man, Carol rules. Fuck Rick. This show needs to be about her.

This.
The metamorphosis Carol has undergone from abused spouse to tough-as-nails surviver/maternal figure making brutal decisions like "taking care of" the 2 sick people at the prison (and of course the latest events) is way more a compelling tale than a character study of Rick Grimes. One could argue she's a lot tougher than Rick and probably a better leader too...

From WD wiki:
"One major theme throughout Carol's time in the comics is her need for companionship among the daily chaos, due to the fact that she is a weak and dependent person."
That's a very far cry from her television counterpart. It's obvious TV Carol has become a fan favorite (considering she's lived through multiple seasons now), and rightfully so.

Same thought crossed my mind about that gas stove as well. Thanks for helping redeem this stand-out episode from the typical plot holes that plague the show :)

LOL. Well just remember suspension of disbelief for improved viewing enjoyment (it is after all a zombie apocalypse). I've learned to accept that every time they find anything resembling a shelter (i.e. not a campsite) that it will include working amenities. Campsite = probably need to show them roughing it- like when Daryl & Beth were collecting car parts for a fire and eating snakes.

For what it's worth on leadership, I still wish they didn't make Shane crazy (going against the comic), and he was still co leading with Rick. Jon Bernthal was very animated and compelling to watch each week. Some of these other actors are a bit of a bore.

100% that would have ruled. Then, when the Governor came back I thought maybe they'd go that way with him. I'm so tired of black and whtie good and bad in this show. It's way more interesting to do stuff like that.

Its that black and white way of thinking that makes me believe that Carol is in trouble. She's killed 3 people, i'm sure thats going to come back somehow.

as far as the gas, for me I had family in the boonies in TX and they fill their gas tanks about every year (it might be longer) so if the family got out right after filling -it would still be full. I'll rewatch tonight and see if they tried to include it in one of the backgrounds. If you go and look for mistakes you're going to find them. I just remind myself its just a TV show and kick back and enjoy it. If I let the mistakes erk me I would have stopped watching a long time ago.

So this past episode wasn't too bad. Looks like they're setting up for hopefully one hell of a finale next week. Anything will be better than last year's awful finale.

I really like the introduction of Abraham, Eugene, and Rosita. Eugene cracks me up.

So rumor is there will be two character deaths next week, and a third character will be bitten by a reanimated character who dies- so essentially three (the third buying it next season). We all know Terminus is false hope and they will most likely be cannibals. I like the leader of the Maruaders- Joe but those guys are only going to be body count totals next week I have a feeling. Anyhow just rumors with no real detail so it could all be untrue (well I still think the Maruaders are goners).

Supposedly the group Darryl is with are part of terminus they are cannibals also. They are using Darryl as insurance bc they think he is part of ricks group ( one of the guys in Darryl's new group knows what Rick looks like) they will all meet up at terminus.

Anyone ever think the house Beth and Darryl found that was oddly clean and stacked with food was a trap. The cannibals sent out that dog to see if anyone would answer the door. Darryl answered the door...then they sent out the walkers to clear the house up soon after they ran ...Beth was kidnapped....hmmmmmmmmmmmm :o

I hope only one of those little girls are psycho but if its both?!?

first half wasn't so great but this second half is shaping up.

Do you think that house was some kind of trap?
Loved the way he lead the zombies down there and used the beds awesome!

I was thinking that, but didn't tie Darryls group to it or to them to Terminus. Look forward to the season ender

When I saw all the meat on the bbq I thought... human meat... hope its not zombie meat BLAA

I thought gasoline goes gummy/bad after about a year? If anyone has input on that to prove me wrong, I sure would like to see it. Im guessing if it is stored correctly it will last way longer, but gas in cars would be useless by this time in the show.

Also, did anyone notice there was a Bub look a like in the tunnel scene? I dont have it recorded or anything, but I saw him as soon as Glenn climbed the collapsed ceiling and looked out into the tunnel. Anyone want to check it out for me? :D

I'm not one to pick holes in plot lines and am happy to overlook 'fact' getting in the way of a good zombie apocalypse but carbs and fuel injectors would have been clogged after the first winter.

Cars do go bad after a hard winter for a bunch of reasons and gas can turn into goo as well but at the same time no one knows when exactly people stopped using any particular car. It's not like zombies wiped out everyone on day one. People could have survived and been using any vehicle for any amount of time after it happened. Hell everyone lived on that farm in relative safety for a long long long boring time. So if someone stumbles upon a car it could have been used up to the day before it was found pretty easily.

Yes, I am grasping at straws.

Well at least with Beth kidnapped Emily Kinney can't use the show as a vehicle to showcase her lame singing. Get it? Vehicle.... heh heh

@Ironpaw ... yeah. I noticed the Bub look-alike too. It was a fairly good copy of him, so nice "salute" to Romero's Day of the Dead.

Oof... that joke was almost as bad as her singing

Wish I hadn't read that bit about the forthcoming cannibalism and deaths, but oh well... certainly makes sense. After Woodbury it's pretty evident that any large post-apocalyptic settlements are gonna have some dark stuff going on behind closed doors... and what would a season finale be without a "surprise" death or 2/3?

Still have not started on the comic, so it's hard to know where the 2 seperate, but the show is making "Dr. Eugene" and crew very hard to peg. I'm beginning to feel like their "mission" is complete BS, and just waiting for the truth to come out. Between Dr. Mullet prattling on-and-on about video games (and having the suave of a 30-year-old virgin), Abraham's freshly dyed red hair, and Rosita prancing around in daisy dukes it's tough for me to not be a bit skeptical.

Eugene plays a different kind if character in the comics....

in the comics I believe Eugene is just a science teacher and actually does not know what caused the apocalypse he just uses his group as "bodyguards" bc he knows he wouldn't last long alone. I hope the show does take it in a different direction with Eugene.

The quote: "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" really comes to mind regarding Walking Dead season endings 3 & 4.
