Sad news. While I never got heavily into the DnD world, as a kid who loved all fantasy, I really dug the manuals and guides for the artwork. I am sure his work was very influential to a generation of folks who might not even realise it consciously.

DAT's work is burned SO indelibly into my brain... it's unreal. Some of the images used in the articles on his passing I hadn't seen in tens of years, but I had never forgotten. An under-known, underappreciated art hero for sure.

What do you guys think is the best art book of Dungeons and Dragons art?

I know a few have been published. I have never seen any...

I would want it to contain Trampier art and Erol Otus especially.

I must admit I was a huge D&D guy in the early 80's :D Although my favorite books were these two editions called Grimtooth's traps 1 & 2 (some of the sickest traps you could place in any module) my favorite illustrated book had to be Fiend Folio:

EDIT: Oh wait you were asking about books published strictly on art, don't know any of those...

I still have all the original Dungegons and Dragons hardbacks and an almost complete set of the Modules still in shrinkwrap.

Have any pics? I would love to see some of the module covers.
