Guess I'm in the minority here, but I thought it was pretty damn good, and feel a lot less jaded after last night than previous season finales.
Despite a couple very forgettable episodes this past season, I think it ended on a strong note. I'd also have to agree that the writers are definitely pushing the envelope or being "ballsy" as bunnyboy put it, but I have no complaints with that. Lixx, your rumors were way off and at the same time pretty dead on...

After Carl was mollested/nearly sodomized last night- I wouldn't be surprised if Beth ends up in a backyard sex dungeon next season. Creepy. Definitely took a dark turn at that fight scene. Hopefully Rick will not revert to sissy, hiding under the bed any time soon. Looking forward to a new season that will, with any luck, continue on this darker path.

Rick is back.
watching the Talking Dead was actually good. you know that they had different wording for the last line, but had to tone it down lol.

I had this exact same thought. Especially when Andrew spoke on Talking Dead, mentioning that all this time Rick has been trying to find out who he is as a leader, what kind of leader. And now he's found it. I personally loved the finale and I'm really excited for its October comeback.

That makes sense. That line was awful and left the season ending on a cheesy note.

Hey I was just relaying a few things I read online without being too specific. Rumors are just that- take it with a grain of salt.
Speaking of Joe's group, see now I can get behind being afraid of a bunch of guys like that rolling up. I'm just not convinced by the group of actors AMC hired to portray the Terminus inhabitants are scary no matter how the ol' saying about appearances goes. Bunch of hipster j crew model types mixed with senior citizens. Did they survive the apocalypse on irony? I find it hard to believe the road hardened group of people we've known for 4 seasons could not have taken them out.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
The Road-esque scene was the best part. I honestly thought Carl wasn't gonna be noticed at first and save them or Carol was gonna roll around and take them all out then pee on Rick for being a chump.
Terminus inhabitants didn't effect me one way or another. I've seen Marines who were skinny looking dorks. Greasy hair and beards, pretty common in the post zombie world. I mean Daryl looks like a fill in Bass player for any random mom-rock band but we love him anyway.

Yeah I agree that the cannibals looked like regular people hanging out in any mall on any weekend, pretty lame.

I thought that was kind of the point. If they had looked even remotely cannibalistic, Rick would have caught on and so would have Maggie and Glenn.

I get that but what are the odds a LARGE group of people could pull off that Hannibal Lecter thing where they eat people and still have the frame of mind to have freshly cut hipster hairdos and clean clothes and smiles on their faces like that? I could see maybe one or two complete nutjobs pulling that off but a huge group of people like that not losing their shit next to open pens with piles of human bones and train cars full of live people and a 24/7 BBQ grill cooking people up seems too far-fetched. Anyone can do what they need to survive but being able to do that and maintain that fake happy clean stepford wives thing is a whole different level of crazy.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
The problem could have been easily solved if Rick just shot that Dieselboy looking Gareth clown, right when he had a gun to that other guys head. If he's the leader then the rest of the Terminus group would have panicked. Sure maybe one or two of Rick's group might have got shot in the process but if we want to go back to past gun battles with just about the same people- how about when Rick, Daryl, Michonne attacked Woodbury? They killed a bunch of people and got out. It might of been night but there were even more people in Woodbury.Terminus looked like it had plenty of places to make a stand. Not everything was in view of the rooftop snipers. Also Rick's group is even more hardened and willing to lay it all on the line than that Woodbury episode, so it's a little bit of a consistency issue in my eyes. Suddenly they are soft and easily manipulated into a trap?

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
Soft? I don't know if they went soft, they had about 6-8 people pointing machine guns from the fence, the 3-4 rooftop "snipers" and the smaller group that came up behind them. Having Carl there was the problem, none of them wanted him to get hurt. If he wasn't there, the group could have easily gotten away or made a stand.

Yeah, he definitely wouldn't have put Carl at risk like that.

I agree that he wouldn't want to put Carl at risk but I also think Rick was still looking for answers at that point regarding what happened to his "people" once he spotted their gear. Had he killed gareth he might've never found out.

the resemblance is uncanny... your "surviving the Apocalypse on irony" line gave me a laugh too, so thanks for that
But yeah, it's all about Carl... you have to also factor that Rick still has the "death" of his baby on his hands too... (cue the tears when they're reunited next season) All the dark things he's done or will have to do are now justified in the name of protecting his son. Since Rick has now come to peace with that, putting Carl's life in jeopardy with a move like that just wasn't going to happen.
I'm thinking those rumors may have been started by AMC people in hindsight... they certainly gave power to the cold open of Rick sitting all "alone" bloodied up and spaced out after some traumatic incident. Stranger things have happened in this day and age of twitter viral marketing...

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I don't know about you guys, but I feel as though giving newcomers a plate of meat is a test... They made an example of showing that chef lady offering a plate not once, but twice. That being said, this is what I think would happen: The newcomers (whomever they may be) eat the plate of food, are afterwards told that their meal was human meat, and based on their reaction they are either welcomed into the flock, or put in the train car to be "new meat."
Maybe I'm thinking too much, or getting some uncanny flashbacks to the Ultra-Luxe in Fallout: New Vegas.

Re: The Walking Dead television series!!!!
I disagree with what everyone is saying about Rick putting Carl at risk, on the basis that if he does the collateral damage done (i.e. annoying Carl's death) would only benefit me as a viewer (and many other people I'm sure).
