One of the rarest regular Microman releases...the Armored Suit DX3 Bulsonic. I haven't even taken it outta the box yet!

If you're not familiar with the toy, here's my blurb from instagram: "This sexy power armor for a Microman action figure has the ability to transform into a sleek spaceship. SPACESHIP. The toy is diecast and plastic, features a fully self-contained transformation, and even combines with the Armored Machine Cosmic Fighter, or "Kronoform Invacepton" in the US, a huge transforming vehicle for a Microman figure (which I also now need!). The Bulsonic also holds a very special distinction in that this was the very LAST classic New Microman toy...released in 1983 just before Micro Change/Transformers blew up the spot."

Wow, I never heard of the Bulsonic (or Butsonic, as I swear I read it ten times, and now will be forever ingrained in my head), but the description sounds unbelievable. It is like every awesome toy feature you could ask for rolled in to one fantastic item. The fact that it cost 2800 even back in the day tells me how deluxe something like is. I am sure it was the fuel for many a young boy's dreams. You can really see a lot of classical mecha elements in the suit, but also the hint of the G1 Transformers to come. Superb toy, congrats Sanjeev!

So is it something you are planning on opening, or keeping as is, because of its rarity. I would understand the latter, I am just asking because I need to see some more pics of this in action in all its incarnations, so if not I might have to get a-googlin.

Personally, fuck leaving toys in their packages. I can certainly understand the hesitation especially with carded toys (where you're essentially destroying the packaging to get to the toy), but fortunately, most robot toys come in boxes that can easily be opened and closed.

Anyway, above is the jet mode stripped down: no weapons or...superfluous landing gear (there are already wheels built into the design!). You don't have to remove the Microman pilot figure at all to transform it. The mechanisms don't interfere with the cockpit and everything's self-contained. It's good shit.

The cockpit area (which also forms the chest of the robot) is diecast, while everything else is plastic. Add some chrome and translucent bits, and you've got yourself a killer toy.

Wowsa. Buttsonic is a beauty. The toy lives up every bit to the amazing artwork on the box. I really love the feature of having the cockpit be self contained for transformation - it is excellent detail like that, which matches exactly what you would expect and imagine for one of these mechas, that shows quality and thought put in to this toy. I like the mix of materials and surface finishings too.

Congrats on the pickup. I heard the name before, but I was not really familiar with the toy. This is pretty damn cool. And its awesome that it transforms without removing the Microman figure. Very cool looking toy!

Oh, and its good to learn that Coop is doing so well he now owns a toy store in Japan!

Nice find. Bulsonic is one of the hidden gems of vintage Microman. And it comes in three colors!

Definitely a gem, Daniel. I was a little shocked to have had so little competition for this one. I guess a lot of folks don't really know about this toy???

Maybe so. I picked up the real type color Bulsonic in the last year or two for a pretty good price, surprised by that as well.

I get the feeling the later-era, pre-Microchange Microman stuff is not that popular. When I visited Star Cats in Japan last year, I mentioned to the owner that I like Microman Rescue and other figures from the later years. His comment was something to the effect that I had 'interesting taste', ha!

GTFO! You have a real-type!? If you got it offa Y!J, then I must've just missed it. But wow...that toy has proven harder to find that pretty much any other Japanese toy I'm even remotely interested in collecting. And, yeah, that includes any of my Bullmarks!

Absolutely! It's not often that, as an adult collector, you come across a toy that you can genuinely say that you love now AND would have loved as a kid!

And y'know what's kinda funny to me is that it dawned on me the other night that I haven't tried to fit any *other* kinds of 3-3/4" figures into this guy. There's actually no 5mm peg for the Microman figure to mount to; the figure just slides into the form-fitting cavity. So now, I'm super curious if old 80's ARAH Joes--or even modern ones--will fit!
