Fuck Apple (and any region playing DVD reader/writer) for making it so damn difficult to watch a simple fucking DVD. Was trying to watch my BBC Planet Earth DVD this morning and remembered (for the umpteenth time!) that my iMac won't read the DVD's. Probably because they originate from the UK. My life seems to revolve around everything I own being from another country (whether it be music, toys, clothes, food you name it but that's another fuck you altogether- because the US sucks hard ass for most culture related things).

Anyhow I finally figured out a work around to this using an external DVD drive and VLC as my program to play the DVD. Picture is better in VLC anyhow. So fuck you Apple, I will not be stopped!

Oh and a big fuck you to the UK discogs seller who sold me a mint Enforcers 3, only for the record to arrive with bubbles in the actual record due to it being a picture disc making it unplayable!

In fairness, Apple didn't set the regional DVD standards. They're sticklers for keeping their software legal as a bit of a hangover from the RIAA/MPAA castigation of them for, you know, inventing iPods that helped to popularize the evil demon .mp3 or whatever. But it's good to know you found a workaround. Another is ripping DVD's to your HDD or an external drive using software e.g. RipIt or ye olde MacTheRipper (no longer supported) which eliminate region restrictions. Then Mac's default DVD player will play the content. At least that's always been my experience. Region restrictions are very easy to evade. I still find it odd that Japan and USA are region 1 ... the people who came up with that must have assumed that the two countries aren't interested in one another's DVD releases or something?

Fuck getting older! I'm sitting at my desk jamming it with two turntables, mixer, monitors, my computer, and a stack of records trying to rehearse a mix of 93 darkside jungle. Unfortunately for myself I've chosen to do a 30 track 2.5 hr mix- all vinyl, all on one live take through audacity. Nice way to break myself back into it (literally) after taking off 10 years. Even sitting hunched over the decks for an hour makes my damn back sore though. No wonder everyone took drugs back in the day for fucks sake! If I pull this off almost seamlessly I'll be over the moon.

So I go to work as usual 7:00 a.m. clock in. 9:00 break comes so I go out to my car to get away from the people that I work with. I approach my car. Hmm wtf is that black thing in front of my car? Closer... Oh it's my drivers side windshield and my dash is DESTROYED! It's also raining. Some IDIOT thought it would be a good idea to pry off my window $200.00 and take my head unit $0.00, eye glasses $400.00, sun glasses $100.00, and i-pod adapter $35.00. Awesome! So I guess they needed a 1999 Eclipse head unit that doesn't play c.d.'s. There was a good c.d. stuck in there too. They went ape shit when they were pulling it out so even if it were a good head unit they wouldn't be able to use it because the destroyed the wires. The pocket change that was in the ashtray was actually worth more than the head unit. Luckily I was able to splice the wires back for my fan and air conditioning to work. Who steals and who steals someones glasses. My door was unlocked the whole time. All they had to do was check it instead of break my damn window. So I go in and tell the receptionist. She called security and they said thanks for reporting it. Yeah no sweat. I tell my boss and he tells me oh yeah it happened last week to a guy that works in a different building but on the same property. So what the fuck is security for and where are the tapes to the cameras outside? Never mind I'm going home for the day I have to find a new window for my car. Thanks idiot thieves. I hope I see someone sporting my sunglasses at work. I know for a FACT they are the only pair in my state.

Getting shit stolen from work is the fucking worst. I had an ipod stolen years ago while at work. The camera got him and he bought something with a credit card so I knew we could get some of his info. The loss prevention guy told me I shouldnt have had it with me, no shit sherlock. Weeks pass and I check the company email, which Im not supposed to have access to, someone had sent the name and cc number days after theft happened. Loss prevention bastard just looked at it and never said a word. Id sneeze in his coffee every time after that.
