I bought a few soviet block toys, they turned out to be super cute.

What a batch of winners! Happen to know anything about them?

The two crocodiles are from Cheburashka, he's called Krokodil Gena. Regarding the doll, they're referred to as Yakut girl but not sure what it means. May be from Yakutsk?

Yeah -- ethnic Yakutia girls are the russian version of Hula girls

I assume these are blow-mold plastic?

Yep both are blow molded. The doll has celluloid head and hands which make her even nicer.

^^ She's gorgeous . . . the head-band makes me think of 'Flapper' dolls from the 1920's.

I finally found the other colorway for this little trouble-maker.
Made by Combex in England. I wish they had done more . . . like a red vinyl one . . . or green.
That would of been cool.

Combex made LOTS more vinyls like these, they also were the parent company of Tomland
who produced Star Raiders, Starroids & a good bit of other generic characters as well as a
few licensed characters between 1950's & mid 1980's. AFAIK the no longer exist.

I used to own 99% of what they released but slowly sold that collection to but Soft Vinyl dolls.
My favorite doll Combex did is their version of Golliwog- it looks creepy as hell as do their own
circus clown dolls. I have the white version of that trouble maker but an earlier version

Not vinyl but picked up these cute little Japanese tin pullback dogs. No maker that I could see and the mechanisms are broken but they are still cool!

Thanks for the info and the link. I've seen that Golliwog a few times but it always goes for more than i'd want to pay.
I've never seen that clown before, definitely rarer than a lot of their other toys!

Where did you find out that information on Combex? I've been scouring the net and found very little history on them.
Do you know if they feature in any books or catalogs?

Do you have any old photos of your collection before you sold it all?
I'd really love to see any group shots of Combex toys!

most of my info was from networking with other collectors
and getting info from a friend in Hong Kong but this was all
done pre internet so the information was hard to gleen

Combex was based out of Dunbey England, they did have
some in house promotional material but never saw anything
regarding a salesman catalog or brochure of any type

still have have a bunch more old pics
just have to dig thru time & space.......

I always love the Starroids figures, but there is a lot there I have not even seen before. That Chewbacca KO is fantastic! Interesting that those weapons are some that I recognise. Not sure if I picked them up from other random toys they might have come with as well, or ended up with them from other miscellaneous garage sale/flea market purchases. It's a real pity that you sold most of those off (but understandable), I would really love to have a few [dozen] of them now.
